Thumbs up Headers & Exhaust make a big diffence

Hope no one minds me sharing these vids here.

First vid is me against my friend in his E92 M3 when I was stock (he had a cat back)

Second vid is me against my same friend (he has the same mods) I have Headers and Exhaust. The difference is crazy:

after mods:

its become an unfair race now, he needs to install some goodies (X-pipe and remap) to make it a fair race tbh.

With roads that wide open, I wish I lived on a sand dune!

Wow... That's insane.. It's nice seeing all the numbers on a Dyno and whatnot but when you have a visual like this.... The true difference is insane! What type of headers?

Why do manufacturers put such restrictive oem headers on vehicles.. I mean when these vehicles are truly in a numbers war vs m3, why not give yourself a advantage by letting the motor breath.. Seems to be a relatively common phenomenon..

Excellent comparison! Its awesome to see how much power can be had by freeing up the exhaust on this car.

The biggest restriction are the cats. Gutting/removing all the cats will give you a significant bump in power. Going with aftermarket headers/exhaust will give you a little bit more.

Awesome comparison btw - I would have thought the gains would be a lot less on the street. Congrats!

Very nice I had a similar experience with my friends 2013 e92 v. my 2008 is-f except he was stock and I have the Joe Z exhaust and intake. I know it's not apples to apples, but the outcome was exactly the same, I pulled hard and kept ahead at a steady 2-3 cars. It's crazy how much power is restricted stock!

Awesome video man I hope to slowly start modding my F . The 1st video looks like your hood wasn't latched all the way down.

^ yeah a few of the guys noticed that when I first posted the video.

It was locked down all the way, and it seems to always do this when it gets to higher speeds. I'm thinking it happens with all of us but not many people have had the chance to record their car going at high speeds.

Thankfully until today it has held on solid.

^^Cool video with the difference between stock and H&E!

It does look like his hood is lifting in the first video? Can anybody chime in on if the hood does this above 100mph? That's the speeds I guessing this was happening at? That seems dangerous and not the way the engineers designed the F I'm assuming?

What do you guys think?

OP, awesome! Before and After results! Very impressive! I'm on my second F and had the opportunity to open both up to at least 150mph! I would run out of relestate...lol. With both vehicles, I've never experienced my hood coming up like in your first video. You need to get the actuators checked out on driver and passenger side. On my first F when I would raise my hood and bring it back down. My actuators were creaking. This would only happen when the engine was cold. Either way it drove me nuts! I took it to the dealership and the actuators were worn out. They replaced them under warranty. If it's not the actuators, then it could be the hinges they're connected to. Either way get it checked out, that's not normal whatsoever.
