Found an '09 ISF with 47K Miles. What is a good offer?
I've been looking for a replacement for my '09 TL SH-AWD and I found a blue '09 ISF with 47K miles. The dealer is asking 38,900 but NADA Clean Retail is at 35,900. What is a good offer for this ISF seeing that it just hit the lot this weekend via a trade in? Or should I just wait for the price to come down? Thx.

38,900 is too high in my opinion. If I were spending that kind of money I would definitely wait for a 2011+(maybe a 2010) with a few more miles.
For that particular car I would say 33-34k would be a fair price to pay. FWIW, I bought my blue 2008 w/79K miles a couple months ago for $29,500 and it is in excellent condition

There are a few things that come into play here.
Is it a color combo that you like? More often than not, I've seen owners switch cars simply because they disliked the color of either the exterior or interior, and had chosen the initial vehicle because of its pricing and availability.
Does it come with a warranty or some sort of certified pre-owned status? Some might find it more worthwhile because it's peace of mind that there is a full inspection of the car prior to it being available for purchase. But at the same time, it usually increases the price a good amount.
Is there anything you don't like about a MY09 as opposed to a MY10+? Many members here are opposed to the wheel style of the latter, but like stuff like the newer LED headlamps or the single tachometer, revised suspension, etc. If you prefer certain things, especially if they can be found in a later year version, I would hold out for one to become available.
If you really like the color combo and how the car is in terms of looks inside and out, then I say begin the negotiation process. The dealer may be able to budge, but probably not much. It is new to the used lot, and there may or may not be intrigue with that particular one. I've read similar instances where used Fs were sitting on lots for months, and it took shipping the car to another dealer to have it be sold. It just depends on your area. But if you think it might be a quick sale to someone else in the market for a USB IS F, you're going to have to get the ball rolling with negotiations. If you can get it for $34-36k +TTL, that might be as good as it can get. Negotiate, have your financial institution ready with a pre-qualified rate offer, and don't be afraid to walk away, even if you absolutely love the car. A little negotiating never hurt, but if the salesman cannot budge much, you might take a gamble and wait for a price drop.
Best of luck to you!

I am in the process of selling my near showroom condition 11' with 26k miles @ $40k. Guy left a deposit yesterday. Took less than a week to sell at that price. In-fact first person to see it, dropped a deposit on it.
However my experience with the ISF market is many sellers, especially private are not willing to negotiate. You really have to look for someone who is realistic. I would assume most overpaid, or can't cope with the depreciation of a car like this, and are trying to milk every last cent out of it. You see these cars for sale for weeks, and months at a time.
I would personally spend the extra money for an 11'+.

That dealer price is a little high in my opinion. I'm willing to bet that the car is going to sit in that lot for at least a month or longer and they will eventually drop the price.
Just today, I locked down on an '08 with 39k miles for $32,800. This same car was listed by another member here for $37.5k and after a couple of months and no bites, he traded it in. I stumbled upon it on autotrader where the dealer had it listed at $35k, then $33k after 4-5wks. I jumped on it!
In CA, I wouldn't be able to find an ISF with this kind of mileage at this price point. I tried to get it down to $32.4k, but they wouldn't budge. The only down side is I have to get it shipped across the U.S. They offered the previous owner $32k plus a couple thousand towards his new car down payment so there wasn't much room to work with.
Be patience and keep a look out on their listing. New car dealerships tend to want to move used cars quickly so you just have to get the timing right. Good luck to you!
