Default Brake Dust Cleaning

Sorry, if there is a thread already. How does everyone clean the brake dust off these wonderfully beautiful OEM Wheels. Bought and tried Sonax but its not worth the price. Slightly better then soap and water. Thinking soap and water is the best and best value.

Thanks all.

I use Chemical Guys Diablo Gel and a wheel brush. I haven't yet found a wheel cleaner that I can just spray on and spray off.

Try Iron X, it works great on brake dust, just spray let it set and the rinse.

If you have an ISF, I think a price disparity of 10, 20, or 30 dollars for a cleaning product doesn't matter considering that you [should] want quality for your car.
Anyway, iron x and sonax work well. You should scrub with soap and water afterwards as well. Application matters: if you were to sprinkle soap on a surface and just shoot water on it, you wouldn't get good results. You are to lather and massage that surface with a viable applicator.

Changing from the stock pads helps as well, but the brakes on this car work well at stopping the car and creating much dust.

I've used Sonax Wheel Cleaner pretty much since I've had the car. It's a great product, and if you can get beyond the smell, I think it is a pretty darn good product given how deep it penetrates the heavy brake dust on our cars. I typically purchase them in the 5 gal jugs because I know brake dust is all too common, whether on a quick drive or after a track day. Couple this with a really good wheel brush with an extended reach, and it makes cleaning the wheel area a lot faster and safer.

First thing I'd recommend is changign the brake pads.

The OEM brake pads make so much dust it's unbelievable, I've never had brake pads that produce so much dust.

Now with my Project Mu NS400 pads it's much easier to clean.

+1 per my post above, I fully agree.

The first thing I changed on the F was the brake pads.

^Same. No more dust, no more noise. Stock pads + 2010-2011 wheels = nightmare.

I wipe my car down every night after I work out. ( havent been to a car wash in more than 4 years) When I finish I just use the damp micrfibers with some of the gloss enhancer to wipe off the wheels. Works beautifully.....almost as beautiful as my car looks.lol

Im into perpetually detailed cars. I take a shower daily so my car gets wiped down daily. Only takes 15 min and I NEVER have to worry about some idiot at the car wash messing up my car or scratching it.
