Default 2010 IS F - Mark Levinson Audio

Hi guys, I just bought a 2010 IS F. Is appears to have the standard navigation system, and it says “Mark Levinson” on the console, but I am really underwhelmed by the base. It couldn’t be described as punchy, let alone basey. The base is nothing compared to my old Bose system in my 2008 Mazda 6. Does this sound about right, or should I investigate a bit more? I suspect the amp isn’t working properly or speakers are running directly off the head unit. Any ideas? The Lexus technician I spoke to in the phone was no help at all.

Sub may be blown. You could get a repair kit.

I sent a fb message to Lexus, and they told me this model doesn’t come with a subwoofer as standard. Are there different options of the ML audio system for the IS F? Should there be a subwoofer if it’s the ML system?

You’ve got a great car with a POS audio unit. I can’t wait for it to blow up. Mine is like the cheesiest stereo headphone effect. No F&R fade, no base. I wouldn’t put this in a Corolla.

I don't think there are any Multi-level tier for the ML package. You may want to ask the folks in the ISF section.

I agree. Especially after I got in my wife's 2016 Ram Longhorn Ecodiesel with the Alpine unit. My goodness, This Alpine system rocks in the Ram.

I do think the 2007 Camry XLE V6 my wife has that I DD is a little better... So disappointed in my 2012 ISF stereo.

Yeah I took a girl for a ride in the F, she complained about the stereo being weaker than her NEW civic. I said cool, turned it off, put it in sport, manual mode and let her hear the engine instead.

Needless to say, she was grinning ear to ear.

I dont know what everyone is whining about. the audio system in my 11 is head and shoulders better than anything I have tested. the frequency response on our system is fantastic and ranges from about 60Hz all the way up to just about 15khz if I remember right. human hearing tops out at 16khz. Mine did need a bit of toying with the settings to get it calibrated just right but it sounds on point once I got it dialed in.nthe audio system in our cars is meant for audio quality, not blasting bass out the windows to **** off your neighbors.

My current '08 ISF's ML stereo is pretty bumping. So much so that I assume the sub was blown and replaced with aftermarket. I have yet to peal anything back and check because there's no need to. This is my 3rd Lexus and 3rd Lexus with a ML stereo.

My second Lexus was also a '08 ISF and when I bought it, the sub was blown. The system was definitely missing a lot of sound without the sub doing its part.

To the OP, if you have a ML, you have a sub.

I think mine may be blown, after I start playing music w heavy bass for about 5 mins, I get this crackling and sizzling noise in the rear. Sounds like someone is cooking up eggs. Anyone else have this issue?

the 16khz number is a bit funny ... in the right environment ... you can hear the difference with a cut at 16khz vs no frequency cut ... it kind sounds like air on top of a recording.

it makes it brighter but not in the just turn the treble up way. im not sure im describing this correctly ... fidelity is a more accurate term i think.

I've always wondered if my sub is blown as well. For those coming from another 2IS, my '09 IS-350 w/standard system had a WAY more solid low end... should that be my impression when the ML sub is working? Did you fix your last car's sub, and if so, was it difficult? And on your current ride, what'd you go with aftermarket? Thanks!
