electric power steering fail

So I poured a little Coke (soda!) on the battery terminals (slight greenish buildup) and the problem went away for since 9/30 until 12/14. Light for power steering failure popped up again mid highway yesterday. Did the Coke pour again last night and again no problem today. I just don't get why it goes out once in a while.
For the lights, I drive in the dark often with deers that can pop out of no where. Rather keep my bright LED lights. Besides they were on for 4-5 years with no power steering issues. My ISF definitely doesn't not light up the road like my RX350.
UPDATE: battery ended up being totally dead few days later. Replaced battery, steering wheel fail went away.

Just had the power steering fail on me for the first time today -- my 2012 ISF has less than 30,000 miles.
Luckily, I was almost home and turning into my neighborhood when the steering wheel became very heavy. I was in automatic with sport mode off. I'm taking it into the dealership tomorrow to see if they can diagnose and repair it.
After reading this thread, it sounds like the ECU for the power steering is probably to blame, right? Hopefully they will find a code that shows the issue occurred.

Update: The dealership wasn't able to duplicate the issue. They said there is no issue with the car -- they weren't able to find any codes. Any tips on what to do next? This obviously is a serious safety concern.

Hey iameven, sorry to hear about that. I would try another dealership perhaps, hopefully there's one not too far from you that you can trust or at least heard good things about. Not sure if this would help but I looked up my old invoice, below is what they stated was the cause and Operation number (some internal reference on procedure/ process ??):
Cause:
Power Steering ECU shorted. Internal failure
Operation:
444991

Here's what the notes said:
"Customer states the powering steering went out on the vehicle as he was driving, making a right turn, doing 20MPH, in auto, no sport mode.
Had to turn vehicle off and back on, P/S came back.
Road tested and could not confirm.
Checked for codes, found C1528.
Checked connections at steering rack and found an intermittent open circuit in the steering rotation sensor circuit.
Replaced steering rack and pinion.
Cleared codes and no codes returned.
