Default a/c expansion valve?

Does anyone on here messed around on replacing their expansion valve? I'm still wondering if the dash needs to be removed in order to access it ... still my ISF blows hot air

...it should be no where near the dash.

you should probably take it in for service.

usually removing anything from the a/c system involves purging/refilling refrigerant and that stuff takes special equipment.

It's in the HVAC blower housing and yes, the dash has to come out to get to it. You'll also need to purge and evacuate the system to do anything with it.

Right, but to get access to the blower housing sufficient ot do this, you'll need to remove the dash. For sure.

removing the dash isnt that big of a deal. They had the dash in my GS350 out 3 times with no problem.

So says the man who has never actually done the job...I'm sorry, but it's a real PITA and the likelihood of damaging something (because so many bits get moved in the process) is pretty high. Sure dealer techs do this, but what do they charge you to do it? Few people would pay to have a dash removed unless it was a warranty issue. It took two full days of effort to change out the dash in my Supra, but I had one of only 9 remaining left hand drive dashes in the world, so I made absolutely certain I didn't botch the job.
