Default Air Bag Light

I had the Air Bag light on my 2007 RX. It was the drivers side pilar air bag.

Lexus paid the 1200 for the replacement. It was covered under the 60K powertrain factory warranty.

My 2008 had the same issue, but I hadn't purchased it yet so the dealer had to fix it before I took possession. It took about two weeks to fix because apparently the part (it was a wiring harness) had to be shipped directly from Japan.

IS-F is not included in this LSB. Only 250/350. They may have performed this procedure, but the LSB isn't showing any IS-F affected. There are no SRS LSBs for the IS-F in TIS.

I bet the problem is a pin in a connector. Lexus/Toyota/Scion all replace the entire harness even when there is a minor issue like this. My Supra had a cold weather issue with the +5v from the ECM to the throttle position sensors and the manifold pressure sensor. It lit up DTCs like a Christmas tree any time I let it get below 45F and fully cold soak. The problem was, it would go away within 10 minutes of operation. It ended up being the pin in the connector to the ECM. I removed the pin, tweaked the petal inside the pin ever so slightly, and it has worked fine ever since. I bet this problem is the same kind of issue. The crimping machine got a little to tight on the run of these harnesses so it only makes intermittent contact on a few cars.

I've had seat belts replaced in 10 year old cars under warranty because they are a fundamental safety item, and they were defective. I don't think it would be difficult to raise a reasonable question about your personal safety (if you believe airbags are not worthless and dangerous as I do) with the service manager and ask the hard question - If I get in an accident with my car, am I still safe? If I'm not, and this is a Federally mandated item in the car, why won't you fix it regardless of my bumper to bumper warranty coverage. This should be more like your emissions warranty...

My light has come on a few times. each time it was because of a connection under seat loose. usually after my car stereo was worked on.

My car is at the dealer now for this same issue. This is the second time it is there for the airbag light. The first time I was there it was a month out of the power train warranty. I have asked Lexus NA to help with a "good faith" repair. I was quoted $3400 to fix it!!
