Should I be worried about ISF w 98k?
Fellow CL,
I have owned my 2006 IS350 for 5 years with zero mechanical issues. Bought the car w 17k and currently has 83k.
I am looking to step up to the F, however this particular F has 98k. Should I be worried about the miles on this car and is it really worth the cash?
Any feedback with my concerns is appreciated!

have it inspected by a dealership. Remember people who buy these cars tend to beat on them , and modify them .
Finding an unmolested F at that age may be a bit harder. Luckily the car is built like a tank. The motor is bullet proof and the tranny has no known issues. Great package, great car....just get it checked and avoid cars that are modified.
I know we have some members who are older but when you look at these videos of these meets or even exhaust videos you can see that most owners are young guys (25-35 or younger). Young guys dont drive sports cars gently . truth
It would be the opposite if you were buying a high mileage LS460. They are driven by old people, well maintained, and never raced or modified. Safe bet

you should always be worried at that mileage depending on price. for the ISF, um sure its still close to 30k and its a lot of money for a used car. but the isf is reliable to justify, but still you should be somewhat ready if anything happens.

I would say the mods are more important than the mileage. Did the previous owner just change the exhaust or did he mess with the suspension or intake? Over 98K an intake change could generate damaging heat through the cylinders. Those wheels are not stock, are they 20"?

I'd personally have no qualms buying something modded, but it's going to be a case by case basis. Just because something is modded doesn't mean it was driven hard. People beat the **** out of stock cars just the same.
As for the white one, the dealer selling it is a friend of a friend and he's an honest guy. It's worth checking out.

Guys IN GENERAL don't drive sports cars gently. No need to single out "young guys" (yes I am young ) These cars are meant to be driven hard, and the Yamaha-tuned 2UR-GSE in the F can take the beating. Most people who drive sports cars spend a pretty penny on them, so they are also well maintained. But from what I've observed, 1-owner / low mileage / stock cars tend to have less stories and are more reliable. I live by those 3 attributes when shopping for cars. 2 of those attributes would be OK, best case scenario you get one with all 3. That has been the case with the 2 cars I own today, one of them being the F.
