Default Miss the straight pipe sound....

Soo yeah I have the DES exhaust and PPE headers. I had a friendly race with MRxSLAYx and I forgot how sexy this car sounds like with straight pipes. Surprisingly we had the same drone on the inside but his had a higher pitch to it.

Soooooooo got me thinking....should I hack off the mufflers on the DES to get that sex sound back?

straight pipe sounds soooo good on the outside of the F. such an intimidating, muscle sound. i remember scaring my neighbors and friends with the straight pipe. i wish the F was more insulating on the inside.

Yes Dcoolbeans! I've had my setup for almost 2 years and still have not gotten bored of the sound. I get endless compliments from fellow F owners and other car enthusiasts as well. One of my buddies (psixtc) came to the mega meet last year with his DES rear section removed with headers......sounds absolutely ridic! DO IT!

^ haha thats exactly what I was thinking. What did he do for tips? I love the quad tips from the DES but they are on the mufflers.
Would I be able to cut the pipe behind the muffler and add a turn down or?

lol you guys are hilarious. I would have loved to have full straight pipes, but at times I require the full HKS SSM note... I think I have a video up of my car with HKS SSM, mid-muffler removed and E-cutouts and it sounds just like straight pipes when open.

I guess at the end of the day, all the ISS exhaust has at the *** end is magnaflow cans.

I have a greddy sp exhaust I'm looking to trade for a des. The sp is pretty much a straight pipe if you would be interested.

DES is a really nice exhaust. I'd say hack up the factory rear section. I've actually got a factory rear section with the mufflersrevmoed/straight pipes in place. It's sitting in my garage.
I recently went to a full catback and have this laying around. I think the straight pipes sound better, but you can't go wrong with a full catback.

the muffler section of the DES is held on by v-band clamps. I just removed those clamps and pulled the mufflers off for a little while. Here's a video from my first time at the track with them off. I was running a JoeZ intake elbow, Sikky headers, and the ISS DES x-pipe without mufflers
