Default IS-F vs RC-F

Anybody holding off purchasing an IS-F in lieu of an RC-F? Two very different platforms, I know, but the added HP and torque proposed b the RC-F sure is tantalizing.

Are you talking about a POSSIBLE 2015/2016 IS F vs a 2014 RC F?

RC F for sure is a no no…the car looks good from the side profile….other than that, it's an ugly car.

It also weighs in at 200 pounds more than the current ISF from what I understand. The added weight will eat into the added horsepower, and from what I have read now stands at 450.

i wonder if the difference in power is only due to a tune. I wonder if you could just swap the ECU in the ISF and RCF

I doubt it's just a tune. ECU controls a lot more than just engine management now a days...

My thoughts exactly with edgeucated! It would be great if there was an ability for a retrofit, but we shall soon find out. But going back to the OP's question, while I think the design of this new model is great, I need four doors. Now, if there were to be a second gen IS F in the future, that would be taken into consideration. Obviously, there won't be an RC F in sedan form given the nomenclature, but it will be fun to see how it compares to the IS F.

The proposed weight difference will be under 188 lbs...

The motor is an All New V8 5.0

I guess no one read the press release !!

The Rcf bottom end is the same as ours but the heads are different. When I get more info I'll check on head swaps for our cars because I myself would like to attempt it

I'm actually considering a new toy, probably next year.

If I choose a sedan, it'll be the ISF. If I want a coupe I'd get a Stingray over the RCF. Decisions, decisions...

I happen to like the styling personally, but the other two very important factors are still mysteries. How much is it gonna cost, optioned like my ISF, and what are the performance numbers (0-60, quarter-mile and road course) gonna look like? If the price is competitive and the performance a clear upgrade, then it is near the top of my short list for my next car. If the numbers aren't looking great, I'll be looking to Porsche for my next car. I'm kind of enamored with the Panamera even though I didn't like it at first.

As it is, the IS-F already feels heavy. Another 188 lbs is not acceptable in the RC-F unless they bump the horsepower to 480. A SUBSTANTIAL increase in performance is what most IS-F owners are looking for. An additional 34 hp for a 188 lbs increase in weight does not look promising. For all the weight saving techniques they learned from the LFA and the CF loom/machine they were announcing to the world, Lexus failed to keep the weight down to maybe just equal of the F. Most disappointing. But am reserving my final verdict until everything is official.

I want that new motor on a FRS and keep the price no more than 40k.
