How reliable is the IS-F for a daily?

I had a totally different experience with insurance..I went from a 2006 Subaru Legacy Spec B to a 2011 IS-F and my premium went up something like 60%. I even made my case with the insurance company who I had been with for over 12 years and had no luck getting it reduced. I ended up switching insurances and now my premium is less than it was before the IS-F
My wife and I have had zero claims ever and my wife had 1 speeding ticket over 7 years ago. My insurance carrier said it was the value of the car that made the huge difference. Where you live is also a big factor...

Just to give you an example of how crazy Insurance can be I paid more for insurance on my $20k SRT 4 then I did for either my $45k Is350 or $60k ISF. What did go up was my registration fees, but I'd rather have registration Fees go up over insurance.

From a lexus and evo owner, lexus is hands down the most reliable car brand out there drivetrain wise. The older models have a harsher ride then the new models. I feel the 08/09 isf suspension is more firm than the evo x gsr. Only costly thing about the isf is brakes and tires. I put extra faith in the ISF since the engine was worked on by yamaha.

Did the suspension get somewhat more accommodating in 2010 or 2011 (which I thought). The thought of an ISF being harsher than m X wouldn't be ideal (though not a deal breaker per se). As I said in another thread I'm looking for a 10 or 11 ISF with the understanding the 10 got the lsd which was an improvement but not the majority of suspension improvements

I'm actually nearly 6 years into an EVO X and I've not had one issue , however, I'm bone stock and don't hard launch. Having said that I don't dispute Toyota stands at the pinnacle of reliability from some family members experience, and it's reassuring to read of all the problem free high mileage ISFs on here.

I drive my F as a DD. I just hit 70k miles. I drive 280 miles a week just for work. I average over 20k a year and haven't had one issue except needed a new batt and replaced key fob batt. Decent mph too. Better then when I had my E90 M3.

Pretty much have to agree with everyone here. IS-F is really reliable car, you mostly have to worry about the maintenance of the car. If you DIY (rotors/pads/oil changes)them then the cost of owner ship shouldn't be bad at all. I bought my 08 CPO and did have my Nav touch screen go out, but was able to get it replace under warranty. As for my insurance, i went from an 04 Acura RSX-S with a pretty clean driving record to the IS-F and my insurance went from $1100/year to $1500/year. So about a $34/month increase. Another thing you might want to think about is gas. I drive about 80/miles a day, 5 days a week so gas for me is close to $400/month. Current mpg ranges between 18.5 to 22mpg

I don't own a IS-F but I've owned other High Hp cars and one thing I would recommend is DONT have more than 1 needy car in your stable (if you cant afford it, not sure if you can, If so great, if not then... you get the picture). The IS-F is a GREAT car, fast, reliable, etc and I wanted one so badly but regular maintenance for a DD is what steered me away from it. Its not overly terrible but for a DD, i wanted something that was cost efficient when I am building a second car, it wont take money away from it. I would go with a IS350 to and save the extra cash for your evo project
Plus if you get into an IS-F, you may switch your EVO X to your DD as the IS-F is MORE car than a stock Evo.
just my opinion.
