Not being a smart-***, just curious as I may be the first UK IS-F owner to fit PPE headers, and want a guesstimate on fitting time for my pro mechanic.

Thanks.

Peter, that guy doesn't know what the hell he is talking about. It takes ~4-7 hours to do exhaust and headers.

You can easily see the Primary CATs but getting on the floor and shining a flash light up on them..

I think the new visual and com check test in CA is scheduled to officially start July, 1 14. Also they use a long stick-mirror to do visual under the car. In CA even aftermarket cats are technically illegal unless you use a much more $$ CA spec cat. Pretty sure PPE sells CA cats cause that's what I have and I vaguely recall the CA stamp. I have my cats flanged in the JOEZ X pipe so I can swap to straight pipes at will.

Its probably best to throw the stock intake back in. I doubt there will be much cause for concern at that point with stock intakes and cats with headers and exhaust.

Remember, if for whatever reason they proceed to the emission test before the visual and you pass, you can still fail visual. Most smog stations wont let it slide usually. Its rare for a shop to do the emission test first because visual is first so they don't have to hear you *****ing that you passed the ONLY important part of the test. CA bureaucracy at its worst.

Just got a registration renewal form from DMV in the mail recently... and says I need to smog. I know my F should pass with flying colors but I'm going to remove my JOE-Z intake and slap on the stock one just in case.

Joe Z - What's the process of getting your intakes to be CARB certified?

The sniffer won't matter Since the roller test won't be performed.

They plug into OBDII, check for system ready, check for CEL's and visually inspect exhaust & intake..

^^^ Apologies to Lex as I have no idea regarding your setup.

Just wanted to reaffirm it's easily passable in Cali with muffler delete...I was slightly paranoid but it was no issue whatsoever. I can rec a place in Thousand Oaks if anybody is having issues....

The rollers will still be used on cars not on OBDII.

So apparently the ELF recall needs to be done before anything. Something I'm not looking forward to doing considering all the horror stories.
