Default Headlamp Aim

Hey hey

I installed my led headlights a bit ago

and now I would like to bring the level up a bit
Ive found info for which screws to adjust

Is it just personal preference and not to blind other people?
or is there a rule of thumb for a certain angle?
say i took it to the dealer (which I won't) what would they use to angle it? just eyeball it?

There is a standard procedure and a specified height.

This will explain...

I wouldn't trust the dealer to align the lights. I did last year and they made it worse. Did some research and went out and did the job myself and couldn't be happier. https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...oo-high-2.html

so I went to readjust my aim
and i was tweaking and tweaking trying different things to see what i like

then on one turn vertically right after a horizontal adjustment the light dropped down
the horizontal adjustment still works but now I cant get the vertical adjustment to work at all.
when I start the car and it auto levels it moves a bit
but its pointing at the ground and I cant get it to move up for the life of me
clockwise does nothing

any ideas whats going on here?
did I turn to excessively?
any fix?

You over adjusted. I just had the same problem fixed. I took it to the dealership to fix. Basically, you unscrewed the bolt from the hole and that is why your projector is aiming at the ground. You need a snake cam to see inside; otherwise, you would have to remove the headlight to see where to insert the bolt back into the hole. Hope this makes sense. For the vertical adjustment you can see how much thread is left on the bolt if you look to the side of the projector. I do not think you can see the horizontal bolt though.

Only reason why I went there was because I had both my headlights replaced due to water condensation. I was giving you my two cents of what the exact problem is.

I also have the 2012 headlights and they are pointed down way too low. Is the bolt circled in red below the vertical adjustment? Which turn raises the headlights?
