I saw a black Plastidipped Dodge Magnum yesterday on the 14 North near Lancaster and i thought you you Darbs and this thread. With the sun hitting the car you were really able to see all the different variations/coats/lines from where the dip was applied and it did not look clean at all. My gf was with me and i didn't want to influence her decision at all so I asked her what she thought before I said anything and she said "it looks like a crappy paint job." In low light I suspect it will look decent but out in the sun it looked terrible. Just wanted to throw that out there before you spent $500.
I’ve seen dips that are very well done. Its all in the prep work. It's no different than a ctappy paint job or wrap. There is this clean turbo rx-7 at my job that looks awesome. You can't possibly make a logical determination for ONE sample rate. Geesh.
Vinyl will ALWAYS be consistent.. no variations, easier removal, more color options etc.
Gotta pay to play.
I disagree again. Vinyl bubbles..... my friend owns a very successful dry cleaning business and he had like 8 vans vinyl wrapped. Well guess what. Most of them required multiple fixes as the vinyl did bubble, stretch and deform all over the van.
Id say do your hood and maybe one fender and see how you like it. It may look stupid for a few days with a total different color but that way you can get a true feel for it and if you don't like it you didn't waste the whole $500 and you only have to take it off of the hood and panel not the whole car.
