Bulky key fob:

My F came with one key fob. I think it's a good idea to have two incase the battery dies on one.
Ok, that makes more sense! I honestly had no idea that there was such a thing as a wallet-sized key card. I wish I knew that at the time I purchased, or I would have tried to negotiate one of those into my deal rather than a 2nd key fob. That looks slick.

2010
2 key fobs + card key
Australia

Oh and the fobs and card key have 'F' emblems on them too.

Love my card key! Fobs just stay at home now.

2012 purchased in Toronto, Ontario Canada. I received two fobs with F logo and one slim credit card type for wallet or suit jacket. Dealership told me only use the slim key for nights out when I didn't want to carry the bulky fob as the battery life on the slim card isn't great.

I'm bumping this thread.
I have a chance to buy a 2010 wallet key. It was already programmed to a car.
I have an 09, is it possible to program it to my car?

Got a 2008 with 2 x key fobs and 1 x wallet key. Sadly it was looking a bit worn, marks easy so carbon wrapped it haha. Turned out ok :-)

My 08 came with the 2 bulky key fobs. That's said, I lost one and was wondering if anyone knew a good place to buy another for cheaper than the stealership will sell one for? I will still have to use the dealer to program it I suppose, but at least I won't pay an arm and a leg for the actual fob.

I doubt it, but maybe. There is a thread with the details in it for the key cards and what years work with which cards.

I bought my car new in '08. It came with two fat fobs with F logos on them. I hate the fob because the buttons make the car do things I don't want when I lean up against something. I bought a key card, first that didn't work, then that did work based on the info in the key card thread here. My key card was programmed by me, so it cost me nothing. When I looked up my VIN in EPC, the advice was there is no key card that works with your car (it specifically said NOT APPLICABLE). It's not true.

The easiest way to be sure the fob you buy will work with your car is to check the FCC ID on it. If it matches, there is no doubt it will work. If it does not match, it might work, but it is unlikely.

I know it's ages ago, but the OP's question got answered in a different thread:

If you are in Canada and buy a CPO, you might be in great luck!

Hi from Vancouver. My used 2009 came with the 2 bulky FOB's with the "F" logo on them but no key card. My owners manual shows the key card, so I think it was available. Are you driving your F in those crazy winters?

Also in vancouver, 2008 came with only two bulky fobs when new.

Anyone know how many keys in total can be programmed to the car at one time?

Hello. I have a 2010 f here in Toronto Canada. It came with three keys all programmed. Two of the regular fobs with the f logo. One credit card key also with the f logo. The credit card keys battery doesnt last very long though, less than one year. Not sure why, but it works great.
