Hello everyone, name is Tim... I just got my first Lexus ISF, picked one up from NJ, 2008 with 40,000 miles. It's lowered on TEIN springs with JoeZ intake and full Exhaust! So far I am still in awe about this car coming from 2003 350z its a big change! I do miss my manual transmission and speaking of transmission this brings me to my first post / question.

ISF advertized 150ms upshifts however when I put my car in manual shifting mode, tracktion off, and I use steering wheel pedals there is about a sec delay between when I upshift from 1 to 2, and 2 to 3, and so on... It's literaly CLICK......pause....... pause some more..... and then i feel the car shift. Is that normal??? Its been in the 30 degrees lately and it seems to shift faster once the car warms up, but even then its inconsistant.

At one point when i switched from 2 to 3 with WOT at the "beep" it did not shift at all for about 2 seconds and my tach had a field day bouncing off the rev limiter untill the car decided to switch gears... I still have powertrain warranty so I should be ok but my concern does this happen to anyone else??

first off, welcome! i came from a g35 so, yes, huge upgrade and getting used to the hp jump.

are you driving in sport mode? also, when the car is cold, the shifts will lag big time. wait till your oil temp get's to 3 bars and see if the upshifts are quicker.

Sounds good guys, thank you for confirmation. I just wanted to make sure this was the case and there was nothing wrong with the car's tranny.

But yeah, it lags big time when i have 1 bar, from now on I will wait till its fully warm untill i get on it...

P.S. The sound of that V8 at WOT is sooo addicting

That would be cool, I am definately interested. I usually go to VA hyperfest each year, you probably heard about it. But yeah... its Obsedian Black 2008 ISF, lowered on Teins, completely blacked out, front emblem, rear emblem, exhaust tips, 15% tint. Looks dark and scary! lol

As far as power I got Joe Z intake and Joe Z full exhaust.

My first planned mod is getting 275 tires on the back cuz those stock 255s aren't workign out.. Im sliding all over the place with TCS off

Congrats and welcome to the community!

Make sure your car is warm before driving it hard. It's normal to shift slow when the car is cold. Have fun.

Yeah I forgot to mention, the F won't let you shift hard while the engine is cold. Even after the oil temp hits 2 bars it may not let you shift. I would wait til 3 bars just to be safe, before driving it hard. Enjoy the car, the meet in April will give you a nice chance to open it up on the hwy. You'll also be able to meet a lot of the Northeast owners.....

Welcome to the group, congrats! And to echo everyone else, don't drive it hard or up to redline without letting it warm up a bit first. 2 bars at least, 3 preferably.

I concur with the congrats and welcome. Let the car warm up before you do anything for sure.

But the ms timing is for the actual gear shift, not the overall time when you press the lever and when you're in the next gear. So it's deceptive. It's still crazy quick but not < 1 sec to shift every gear.

Make sure you don't leave it in D and click the paddle shifters to switch to manual. It has to be in M and what they said about temp. Just mentioning that cause that threw me off when I first got mine too. Congrats on the car and Welcome to the F'in club! Haha
