What do you think this **** is?
Hi, I just bought a used 2012 ISF nebula gray with 7000 miles and loaded for $49k. You guys think that was a good deal.
Anyways there is this **** right next to the slippery car symbol. I think it's some sort of aftermarket thing. But I can't figure it out. Maybe the **** was left but whatever it controlled taken out. What do you guys think?
Oh yeah it turns like a dial left to right with a midpoint.

Thats really strange. Have you been able to notice what its changing. If the car had an aftermarket sub in it at one time it could be used to control that. I have no idea though.

If I had to guess, I would say it once adjusted the power of a sub-woofer in the trunk. It's definitely sloppy looking and I would get rid of it asap. Take her apart and follow the wire. It should be a fun adventure.
edit: and 49k for a 2012 with 7,000 miles is an incredible deal. you should pat yourself on the back.

It definitely is an eye sore as is. Not sure what it could be. I haven't seen anything related to the F where one would need to fab a dial holder aside from some aftermarket subs, as others have mentioned. Hopefully you'll find resolution soon.

My guess is that it was an aftermarket subwoofer amp gain control. To be certain, you can check out your ML amp underneath the right tray in the trunk to determine if any wires were cut or tapped into... GL bro!
