Default MOTOIQ "brakes down" our 2-P IS-F ROTORS

Hi guys, I just thought I would share a break down of our IS-F rotors provided by MOTOIQ on their project IS-F

If you have any questions on braking setups please let us know.
Enjoy

The FIGS Engineering rotors were 18 lbs each. The rear rotors saved 2 pounds each and the fronts a whopping 8 pounds per side! That is 20 pounds of rotating and unsprung weight, a considerable amount. We were sure this was going to be a feelable difference. Getting rid of the iron in the center of the rotor and replacing it with billet aluminum really helps. Since the rear rotors had to have the iron friction ring, the weight savings were not as significant.

Thats awesome!

When they said you should feel a noticeable difference with these what does that mean exactly? Better steering feel, handling, acceleration etc.

Hey Figs... I noticed they mentioned not removing the dust shields because they were not going to track the car.... just DD it. I had read about the pro's con's to removing them on cars taken to the track a long time ago and I was wondering if you reccomend I have mine removed when I get my two piece rotors and suspension upgrades installed in the next few weeks... If you recall I track my car once a month during track season. IIRC removing them improves airflow and brake/rotor cooling but could cause issues if drivin in the snow or something.... (which I WON'T be doing) What do you and other track heads think???

^^ Rotating mass impacts all of these areas so the benefits are felt across the board.

You will get better center airflow with the shields removed but its not necessary. Still have not faded these on the track even with the hybrid XP8 pad setup.

I've had both the front and rear Figs rotors on my car since last summer and I couldn't be happier. I strongly recommend them as a brake, suspension and weight savings upgrade. They are also a nice aesthetic upgrade to boot. They look sweet behind a nice set of wheels and really finish off the look of the wheel wells along side the Brembo calipers. Like everything Figs offer these rotors are a well designed, high quality parts.
