Curbed wheel, will wheel insurance cover it?

well, it appears that you guys are right, rim not totaled = no replacement. But they offered to repair it for $200....we'll see how that comes out and how they will color match.

Lucky.... The wife curbchecked the car, took it to Lexus and they said they couldnt fix it. They referred us to a local place that took car of it, $480 later.....

$2,770 dwn to $1,800. Still painful. I was considering a tire & rim warranty for my recent purchase but I wanted to know what it covered first. I haven't been able to get a copy of the contract 1st. The fiancne person at the dealership has offered to let me sign up 1st. Hmmmm, I don't think so. It appears it doesn't cover rims unless they can't hold air. What about the tire, bublles, cuts, etc...? Is there any coverage there or is it just a means for the dealership to create another revenue stream?

The tire's not covered unless the rim is sufficiently damaged to make a claim, so the insurance really isn't for tire damage. It's really for catastrophic damage to the wheels, and not much else. So if you live in a place with bad potholes, it might make sense, or if you've ever hit something hard and large on the freeway and bent a wheel, it might make sense. Otherwise, probably not.
I bought it for $970 when I bought my car because I have lost a wheel to road debris on the freeway and the $970 I paid is less than my insurance deductible. I would not buy it again.

Highly doubt it. When they were trying to sell me on it, you pretty much had to total the rim to the point where it wouldn't hold air in the tire for them to replace it under warranty. sadly I turned it down and a month later my dad borrowed it and comes home with this. 
Should be repaired and picked up tomorrow. Weird thing is he didn't hit anything the tire just blew out on a freeway without a shoulder so he had to drive on the rim for a half a mile to the first exit.

I have no doubt that the wheel repair guys can work another miracle as well.

There are at least 2 independent wheel/rim repair shops around my area that can fix curbage for less than $100. If I were you, I'd look around your area for an independent shop that specializes in this sort of thing instead of taking it back to the dealer. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the dealership doesn't send the wheel out to an independent shop themselves, charge you double, then keep the profit. One of the shops in my area does work for several of the local dealerships.
