Default Exhaust / Heat Wrap for exhaust and headers

My mechanic wants me to wrap my new PPE Headers and JoeZ exhaust in this wrap to reduce heat in the engine bay and protect the surrounding items that will be close to the headers.

Will this be a good idea? Will this help or hurt my performance?

He wants stuff like this...

I thought PPE headers are already coated with a heat resistant ceramic?

It might be counter-productive to wrap something that already has this coating on it.

I wouldn't wrap the headers and exhaust. I have Sikky headers and JoeZ exhaust with no wraps. Wrapping them might cause condensation (especially the headers) and you do not want that. That's just my take on it though.

I did purchase the headers with the heat resistant coating, but he still wants me to do this wrap.

I appreciate everyones input.

You dont need any wrap on the headers. You should have no problem with heat having a full cat back system. All that heat will be felt behind your car with your set up.

Wrap isn't a good idea for street driven cars. Water condenses and collects between the wrap and the tubing causing corrosion and early death. You've already got a nice ceramic coating. Don't waste your time or money wrapping it.

Thanks guys for your expert advice and input. I won't use the wrap on the headers.

He was saying that it'll hurt and melt items close to the headers.
