Default Audio Upgrades With Out Gaining Much Weight?

Since its my older bro's(actually cousin considered a bro) F and he told me he the sky is his limit as his budget, what can you do to upgrade an ML system and not add much weight? I am a bit of an audiophile and I gave him the disease too. He wants to upgrade whatever he can without having to replace the stock head unit and making any more speaker holes. So what is there to do? Can the audio gurus please help!!!
Thanks in Advance

I would recommend FOCAL componet speakers. Awesome sound!!! A seperate DSP processor is nice too if you really want to tweak the sound to your likeing.

Subwoofer, I would recommend the Rockford P3 but I am a bass junkie so I always go loud and hard. But that adds a good amount of weight.

upgraded audio components are heavier due to bigger magnets and better cone materials...so its a pretty hard question. The ML system is designed to work best with the ML amp, I have found that sound deadening your doors and the back seat under the cushions will make your bass sound tighter and stop the road noise which makes your system sound louder. That its an inexpensive option without changing components. I would do that and drop in a stand alone 8-10 inch woofer in the trunk tapped into the OEM sub with the new line of very small and light weight JL amps. That will get you alot more sound at a marginal weight increase.
