If you're still losing oil, it will be time for a leakdown/compression check on the engine.
Currently using the OEM filter along with Mobil 1 5W-30 synthetic. Mechanic fills 9.8 every time. I'll definitely get it checked for leaks on the next change.

So basically the oil changes are done every 5k miles....So I always stopped in around 2k or 2500k (whenever the light came on) and they added the proper amount for free. It was a pain in the *** to have to go there double the time I should have.

P.S. They definitely changed the oil the right way and put in the right amount. I made sure of this after the first time it happened, then it kept happening.
My car does this exact same thing. Not sure about how other ppl drive their car. But I drive mine hard most of the time..

I would check the dipstick daily if you drive it daily and keep a log with dates and the level on the dipstick.

Weird, I recently went 7k between oil changes because I was fighting the dealer about a service bulletin and they kept saying "wait until we resolve this before you come in for oil". Because of the extra 2k, I was religiously checking the oil levels to make sure I wasn't getting low with the few extra miles.

I never ever went below the top full mark, on my 2008 that had 85k when I just went in a couple of weeks ago for the change.

Seems people have had mixed results, I wonder what the culprit is...

After 3.5k miles I had to add a full quart on my 2011. Wasn't expecting S2k oil consumption levels on this thing

I never had to add any oil in my 08 as well. It's always on the FULL mark.

Just curious if you're running synthetic or not? It almost seems like half our members are burning oil. I'd be curious to know what your results are if you sent a sample to Blackstone.

Not the OP, but I'm running Mobil 1 synthetic. I do drive in manual mode 90% of the time, and usually stay at or above 3k RPM for freeway driving (which is 90% of my daily commute). I assuming the higher revs might be a contributing factor to my burn.

Could be how the various cars were broken in by the first owner, but that's just my speculation and I don't want to start "How to break in an engine" argument here.

I will just say that I followed the manual throughout break in and swapped the oil at 1200 miles, as opposed to 4,000 miles.

Does everyone only use synthetic?

I've used conventional 5w30 for 300000.

But in the last 100k I have noticed I have to add oil.

Now I have ppe headers and gesi cats. I cannot tell if I'm burning the oil or am running rich.

Also have the rr racing tune.

Wot a ton or smoke blasts out of my exhaust.
Before I had the cats on it was black. Now it's a lighter shade but I have no coolant lost.

Pcv? Pain to get at however.

I DD my F the same way shifting between 3k and 4k, and when driving home at 1 a.m. in the morning if traffic allows I'm shifting even higher 5 to 6 days week. My oil is mobil1 synthetic as well. Something interesting to note when my hours were changed for a few months and I was working day shift and could no longer Drive aggressively I found that I didn't lose any oil. Once I switch back to evening shifts and my typical driving I went back to losing small amount of oil between changes.
