Contemplating an ISF... coming from a 99 GS400
Hey all -I've been lurking and surfing autotrader/cars.com for some time now... contemplating an ISF. I currently have a 99 GS400 which has been a great car - Ive had it for 10 years and have done little more than maintenance in those 10 years - a testimate to Lexus quality. The 99 GS400 has just over 200k on it and its starting to show its age. The AC is out - with a leak in the evaporator coil (I dont have the stomach or wallet to repair - I'll be refilling the AC every 3 weeks to make it through summer). The exhaust is rusted out and needs replaced.. and just about everything thing else is equally worn on a 200k mile daily driver.
Ive enjoyed the 300hp with the GS400 - and did some minor mods (intake/exhaust, rims and tint). I'd enjoy a faster car (who wouldnt) and naturally the ISF came up. If I go with an ISF i'd likely want a silver 2010 with around 30-40k miles - with a budget of about 40-43k. My only fear is the impending redesign which includes a completely new interior... which I'm sure will be amazing. Now granted I wont be able to afford a new 2013/14 one so i guess i shouldnt worry about it - still bugs me to be shell out 40k+ for an interior that looks like its 8yrs old (which it is). Should I try and hold out - milk the GS400 for another year and keep saving? I'm planning on paying cash for the ISF so keep that in mind. It would be great to keep to my 40k budget so I can afford to put on headers and exhaust (and of course tint) day 1

$40k will get you a great condition 08-09 ISF, but a 2010 would be several thousand more. I recently picked up an 08. I was searching for a 2010 with a $46k budget but that wasn't enough ($46k with taxes, etc was my budget). If your set on a 2010 wait for prices to drop. With a redesigned ISF coming out prices will surely drop. Good luck with your search.

I was under the impression that the IS-F wasn't changing until late 2014 or early 2015?
Do you guys know something I don't? as I'm in the same boat as the op (but thinking of a 2012 IS-F)

My wife is antsy for me to make up my mind and just buy something/anything already :P I quote "as long as its under a million bucks I dont care..." yes... my plan is working :-)
I'm back and forth though if the smaller car will be enough room for me - my wife's TSX has the econmony for trips and daily driving when we can share the car but we do ocassionally need an SUV/Truck... I might have to buy a beater truck or something to fill that need.. I'd just hate to have it sitting out in front of the house all the time (I'm sure the neighbors would love it..).

next generation is-f probably won't be here for 2 more years..is-250 and 350 will drop first..then f..
i traded my gs 350 for the F...very happy!!
get an older rx300 as an auxiliary truck...thats what I did..(neighbors love it)

I haven't read what you said, or what everyone else has posted. I just read your title... I say stop contemplating and get an IS F. Best car I've ever had (but then this is only my 4th car). lol

I live in the Lexnexa\Shawnee\Overland Park corner (southern KC Area). I see you have a sweet looking ISF :-) If you are close would you be up for letting me take a look? Yours is decked out pretty much exactly how I want mine (except silver - USB is sweet though). I'd probably go with iss forged exhaust for true quad exhaust - but otherwise exactly the same :-) including countermeasures

I'm in OP... I'd definitely love to let you check out my ride... anytime! silver is sweet too... It was one of the "finalist colors" I do like the tips of the ISS exhausts, but the Joe Z (as is the ISS's) is a true dual exhaust... the ISS just happen to have 2 tips per muffler...as opposed to the one that is on the Joe Z.... I don't think that makes it a true "quad exhaust" but I may be wrong... I LOVE my countermeasures... the RD has have saved me about 20-30 times easily in the last year and a half and the laser jammers about 6 in the same timeframe... install is very stealthy too! I'll send a PM with contact info....
