The IS250 & IS350 &new GS, GS fsport the paddles are not shifters. You can't shift the car yourself for any year. You're entirely imagining a difference in a feature the car doesn't even have.

The paddles are top-gear limiters only. For every year of 2IS.

Test drive an IS-F if you want to feel what real shifters feel like.
The new GS or GS sport share identical engine as the IS350.

thanx blitz.... i am understanding a little better now. it will be fun to test drive an ISF (i've always wanted to anyway) to see what real shifting is all about. it's going to be tough because i haven't seen a dealer here in the 5 boros that has an ISF to test drive.

You won't see any real shifting on an ISF or any other automatic car (and that includes all DCT / SMG / PDK / etc. transmissions). You need to get yourself on a standard tranny car and experience a clutch pedal, no semi-auto tranny can replace that feeling!
