Default Drive belt help

I have a 2008 with 80k miles with platinum warranty til 120k. Getting nasty squealing that increases with revs from what im assuming is the drive belt. I saw some something about a tsib on it for the 2008 anyone have any info? Would this be covered under my warranty anyway?
Thanks
Mike

Yes there is a TSB on this. It involves the replacement of the tensioner. Yours may also be related to a faulty water pump and or build up of coolant around the tensioner pulley systems.

08 ISF with 63k miles here and had the drive belt tensioner + drive belt replaced recently. No extended warranty, so it was out of pocket. Repair cost wasn't terrible, under $500 at the Lexus dealer, or $330 for the tensioner + drive belt for DIYers. Extended warranty quotes ranged from $2400 - $3600 until 100k miles, so I rolled the dice that any future issues that arise won't cost more than $2400 total.

My issue is as described in the TSB, but only when the car is warmed up and reaching 4+ bars on the oil temp gauge. Noise sounded like a "bird chirping" between 1500-3000 rpm, at which the engine noise drowns it out.

Early build ISF here, VIN is under 0500 and here are the issues so far throughout the years of ownership:

Covered by warranty:
- Rear view mirror vibration
- Leather on front door panels bubbled (glue wore out)
- Speedometer needle backlite went dim
- NAV screen no longer responded to touch inputs
- Water pump leak
- Driver side rear axle clicking

Out of pocket:
- Tensioner squeaking
- Drifting to the right, took it to an alignment specialty shop: moved the subframe and aligned it for maximum tire life.
- Of course regular maintenance items, tires, brakes, rotors, oil/brake fluid changes, spark plugs, etc.

Overall, all issues have been addressed and car is still running great.

What was the fix for your driver side rear axle clicking?

I drove to Atlanta and back home to Canada over the holidays and put about 3500 K on my car - I have a screaming banshee loud squeal now as well.

I have tried to isolate where its coming from but can not pin point the culprit. This happens under load and at idle when cold, but continues all of the time now and only subsides in volume slightly.

I sprayed some water on the inside of the belt, to see if it would quiet down for a short time. It did not. I have ordered a new belt and will replace it, then if it continues to squeal, I know it is a pulley somewhere and will take it in. If its not related to the belt, then for sure its a pulley alignment issue. The water pump was changed less than a year ago, so I know that pulley is OK.

I'm only changing the belt, because I get parts at cost and do not want the dealer to blame or waste time telling me its the belt.,...and if it solves the problem it won't cost me an arm or a leg.

I report back next week on my situation.

Only if you're within the 4yr/50k bumper to bumper warranty or have some extended warranty.

The drive belt tensioner squealing is not covered by the 6yr/70k drivetrain warranty.
