Odd, but I also "park dangerously close to a far away curb" and at the back of the lot. Don't seem to have many door dings as a result. The long walks to the store should be considered good exercise.
I also dry to stay clear of the grocery cart corrals. Some just push the carts loose when they are done with them.

Some just continue circling the parking area so they can get as close to the front of the store as possible. When I plan on looking for a parking spot in back, I can quickly park, get out and walk to the store, usually beating the circler.
