How Long to WARMUP the car in the COLD

+1... when the RPMs drop a tad below 1k, I'm off. I don't go WOT until I see 2 bars... also you'll notice that when the temp gauge only has 1 bar, it doesn't let you shift in M mode while your foot is on the gas, you must take the foot off between shifts... just an indication that the car is still warming up.

Really? The bar just before the middle, isn't that the fourth bar when you include the initial bar as the first bar? The water temp always hits the middle. My oil temp, at full operating temperature, is just one bar shy of the middle.

Normal street driving the oil temp is three bars. On the track, it goes to one from the top.

I typically start the car, finish doing whatever I'm doing (seatbelt, song selection, etc.), then just go, regardless of how cold it is.
I take things easy until the 2nd bar, but wait until 3 bars for anything more. As stated earlier in the thread, depending on how cold it is and what type of driving I'm doing, this can take as long as 40ish minutes (on the highway with no traffic, for example, it takes very long to get to the normal operating temp).

FYI for All...
The 2011-2012 displays the Oil Temp bars very differently....
2011-2012 Lexus IS-F Speedo - Normal Operating Oil Temp.
Below Top indicator shows it moved 4 places..
2008-2010 Lexus IS-F Speedo - Normal Operating Oil Temp.
Below Center indicator shows bars climbed up 3 places.

I would give it a minute so that the oil gets up to operational temperature, anything more than 30-60 seconds wouldnt be necessary. Although the most critical thing is to not full throttle the car until the engine and oil warms up to operating temperature.
If you are just daily driving the car and not punching it until it warms up you can just start the car and go.

I'm garaged in So Cal so I idle for about a minute to seatbelt, fiddle with windows/moonroof, and select my audio mood. I have to turn directly onto a steep uphill which is why I bother to idle at all. If things were flat or downhill I'd takeoff immediately, but just take it easy.
I'm low RPM and throttle for awhile...at least until the oil temp starts to rise. Since the speed limit is only 40mph on the street I turn onto, my biggest issue is just figuring out which gear to be in when climbing the hills. I def stay below 3500 until I think the car is warmed up though.
