Default 197.6 mph Lexus IS-F - Top Speed Test (Video!)

I got dynoed the other day after putting a 100 shot of NOS in my ISF...they were using 6th gear of course for the HP pulls but i asked him when we were done if it was cool for us to go ballz out to 8th gear...he asked if my tires could do it and of course i said "well, they are Pirelli's!" (jokingly). They are Z rated so we are good to go.....so we did it

OK before you say "that will never happen on the road"......I KNOW THIS. This is just for fun and a good example of how powerful [our] ISF's are I have no doubt with some wind at my back and a shot of NOS, this thing could do 180. Although i will probably never have a chance to try that. This was for fun, JUST FUN, so please dont over analyze it. LOL

Oh, this was done with NO spray -

it was a RUSH just standing next to it while those wheels were spinning that fast

Unfortunately, like you noted, there's no way you will hit anything close to 197.6 on the road. Thanks for getting our hopes up with the title of this thread. Lol.

I thought our car will not be able to past ~173mph.

That's an amazing max speed though.

Very nice!!!

I thought I was speed limited though? I've been 250km/h+ a few times, but not got to the 270km/h limiter yet.....

Is it possible only 6th gear has the top speed limiter? Of course on the open road trying to accelerate to top speed in either 7th or 8th gear would be impossible without a ton of power.

I have hit the limiter @ 173-175mph, there was still juice to go.

mead916,

Did you dyno your car with the stock wheels or your aftermarket wheels? The car is limited to 170 only. Nice run though.

the increase in rolling diameter shouldn't make that significant of a difference.

and I believe the car is limited to 173mph, not 170

Default It hits the limit easily and climbs there without slowing any acceleration.

One thing is the speedo is right on even at the 168 mph the GPS will be right on.

I hope you were on a private airstrip and not on public roads when you did this.

Nope I run right along a runway to work almost daily. Like 2 1/2 mile long stretch with a fence on one side and the woods cut back 100 plus yards and no side roads into it and only when zero traffic. About as safe as it gets and one of the few places someone can do it. Not many places to open up safely and flat and not worry about animals. Pretty much over 150 mph almost every day in the summer. There is no tracks here unless you drive 6-7 hours and the Base Commander used to let drag races on the side runway but not the new one. When the highway was resurfaced it was blocked off on one side for a weekend and set up as a drag strip before opening it back up for traffic.

I read somewhere that the actual top speed of a stock IS F was around 191 MPH without the limiter, pretty good for 416 hp!

I will let you know this summer what it is with headers and exhaust RR power system. New tires are going on and we will see the true untapped car unlocked. 👍.

I have all that, with the limiter supposedly removed, tried a top speed run, and it definitely shut me down at 175....😤. Really need to get them to take a look at that.....limiter is definitely still in tack.

oh I will not be happy with that. It is the one thing I hate is limiting my stuff. I really only bought it for that specifically. I bought a speedy box direct from Japan but it is seriously confusing on how to override it. The factory cut off is 168 mph. My bikes were always 186 mph but I rarely checked to see as that is just so fast. 100 yards coverage in like a second.
