Default Engine cover project

Update 2 years later...

New F, different color scheme. Old was silver on Alpine leather, new is Black on Blood.

So I gave my GF full reigns of customizing my my engine cover, she loves art projects and this is a completely different aspect and medium then she is used to. The only suggestion i made was sharpie art however she took it to a whole other level.

Here is the beginning of the project, and the image which she drew and will be transposing onto the engine cover somehow. The only contribution I made was 4 layers of buildable white primer with 4 top coats of matt white paint.

I thought this was pretty cool, and how she goes about designing it will be just as much a surprise to me as it will CL. I will keep you boys updated as she sends me pics.

UPDATE

She took some time out of her schedule to bring the project close to completion! The transfer was more difficult than she anticipated as the grooves and texture of the cover allowed the sharpy to "spread", however she figured it out right away and made it work.

She is going to give it some final touches with fresh eyes tonight! Then I will have the F installed, and have the entire cover professionally clear coated! it turned out very very well

UPDATE April 16

Its done minus the clear coat and it looks great! I am a bit hesistant to have it cleared after I heard that it will make the sharpie run, so a buddy is going to mist the first coat, and slowly progress to a full coat.

I really like the whole idea on doing your own art on the engine cover. I love to draw and make my own things...BUT..the drawing reminds me of the cheesy art on Fair rides.

so you are saying that the picture needs more side boob... lol

this was her initial sketch, and i have seen her finished products. She doesn't quit until she is happy with it. I can't wait to see where she goes with this.

You'll want to be sure to have a plain one to install when you sell the car. That belongs on the wall in the garage when it's not on your car!

Absolutely! After she finishes the drawing I will have it professionally clear coated, and then find a spare. Hopefully the heat does not have any negative effect on the basecoat.

Too many snakes, but I like it! Maybe do without the bottom right Cobra? Anyway, nice project and I look forward to your results!

Default first update

well guys she started transferring the pencil and charcoal sketch over to sharpie to see how it would look as well as changing the paper type.

These two pictures are done completely with sharpie, as well as a gold and silver sharpie/paint pen. We chose gold to match my gold Work VsXX rims.

The cobras will be back, however adjusted slightly.
