Deal or no deal @ dealership
So i brought my car in for warranty work, brake issues. Just to the point. They are going to warranty my front pads and shims. But they said i need to replace my front rotors. I also need to do my 30k mile service since im @ 29k. The question is am i getting ripped off?
I will be paying only half of the rotor replacement which is around 320$ and pay for the 30k mile which is around 420$.
Total: ~740$
-30k mile service
-new front pads and shims
- new front rotors.

they said that i need to change my rotors because of the new pads.. does this make sense? my rotors are at 29.1 !! which is within spec, but they said they have to resurface it.. which will make it below 28mm... anyone confirm this?

thats wasting half the rotor. just slap on the pads and go. i wouldn't go to the dealer for that. backyard DIY is the best and its free. that is if you have the tools. minimum spec is 28mm and new rotors are at 30mm. your at 29mm so ur halfway.

Sounds like they're just trying to make you spend money you don't need to spend.

alright i worked out a deal. so heres the break-down
for $511 out the door this is what i get
-30k mile service with Mobil 1 Synthetic oil
- 2 new front rotors
- 2 new front pads and shims
- Full tank of gas.
I guess this is reasonable, since i do care about the resale value, and having proof of the 30k mile service from a dealership.

Are they giving you the old rotors? I'd be happy to pay for shipping them to Atlanta...

the 30k service is just to top off your fluids and some inspection. they are just baiting you to pay more. don't throw away the rotors, u can send them to me or lobuxracer. lol i also did a brake pad change but i went to aftermarket due to less dust. didn't change my rotors yet. did the same for the rear.

See I like that, but this really only matters if your going to sell it private.
If the car is taken care of, it shows. Usually thats all that matters.
I know for a fact i'll be trading mine in without mods come that time and doing all the maintenece myself in the meantime.

If youre going to do the work yourself just keep the receipts as proof that youre doing the service. If you are selling to someone that worried about the vehicle being serviced it will be evident in an inspection and receipts.

yeah the pads are being replaced under warranty (lsb).. I know 30k mile service isn't huge but i guess since they are giving me all those and mobil one synthetic for $500 which isn't too bad.
- New rotors alone from a different source is about ~$400 w/o labor.
- brake pads, free since lsb warranty
- Full tank of gas, i gave it to them @ 1/4 full, so about ~$50
- Mobil one oil change DIY ~$ 65.
-30k service from dealer.
So i guess its not too bad for $500.
anyone think otherwise?
