Exhaust tip fell off.....
I just got my isf this monday. The bottom drivers side tip fell off and it was ran over. Its completely flattened. I brought the car to the dealership expecting for it to be covered under warranty. After an hour of inspecting the car they came back to me saying it was broken off and therefore it wont be covered under warranty. The service adviser said it would cost $550 to replace. Theres no way in hell im paying that, but i dont know what to do. The pricing on just the exhaust tips are ridiculous. Any suggestion??

You can get it off Sewell for $276 + shipping with the CL discount. That still sounds expensive to me, but better than $550. As far as i know, you can't buy just one tip, you have to buy the whole drivers side piece with both tips on it.
If you didn't hit anything, i think the warranty should be covering it as a defect. Have you contacted Lexus corporate about the issue?
I'm sure they'll help you get a better resolution if it's not working out at the dealer.

You're not the first to lose a tip. The welds break. The things could use a couple pieces of safety wire so they don't hit the ground.
I found some on ebay using "is f tips" in the search.. I don't know anything about the quality - I just saw them a couple days ago. Probably not as good as OEM parts but it's your choice.
$150 shipped

Here are some OEM tips from Lexus of North Miami - $285 shipped. Found using "lexus isf exhaust" in the search.

Go back... Ask to speak to the "Service Dept. Manager"...
Show him your paperwork... Show him the Tip...
Then explain to him this is whats called a "Defected OEM Part"...
I am sure he will understand your needs and replace it under warranty.. (As long as you still have warranty on your Used IS-F?)
The spot welds are not holding up well for some of these tips...
Good Luck !!

If you were ever thing about a full exhaust then you can look into ISS DES SUper Street Exhaust. It replaces the tips as well.
But Like Joe said I'd prob print out a couple of these threads and go back and insist. If not call Lexus corporate..
How did they know it was broken off?? Did they show you other damage to the exhaust??
Yea, go under the car and do the wiggle test or just see if the welds are looking worn. If yes then take it to a muffler shop and have them add a couple more tack welds. Should be no more than 30 bux

Both of mine broke off and have been covered under warranty.... new ones are already deep bronze again from the track.... haha
If what joe says doesnt work and the service director gives you a hard time, just inform him how poorly you think he handled the situation, how you will be calling corp with a complant about the dealership, Lexus service and how your going to give the service survey ZEROS across the board. And one or the other will get it handled. Dealerships are there to make money, corp is there too keep lexus customers buying lexus.
