DEAR LEXUS : No Butchering of the IS line
I know I will probably take a lot of s(hit from you guys but whatever. The new GS was absolutely butchered by Lexus. The car looks god awful. The good days of 06', 98' are far behind us. The car looks like a Hyundai ... wow, bad.
After tweaking [ slight butcher ] the LS 2010, and 11' slightly, one can only hope a major massacre and bloody cow butchering is not done on the IS-F as well. I am amazed so many people like this new GS, it's awful. Lexus was built on being ORIGINAL. Back in the day, all the different models were WAY different from each other. This GS looks like a combo of the LS, and ES, mixed in with a Mitsubishi and Hyundai.
Awful.

I personally love the look of the next GS. I wasn't a fan of the Lf-GH because of its confused and BMW-esque body lines. However, the pre-production GS is a great styling evolution of the Lexus design language. The Audi-like grill takes a bit getting used to, but it looks much better than it did on the Lf-GH.
I don't think the GS looks like a Hyundai; it was Hyundai that tried to mimic Lexus and BMW's designs in the first place. Look at the Genesis sedan and the Kia Optima (not Hyundai but same parent company) The Optima was clearly an attempt to build a IS look-a-like.

IMHO the rear just doesn't flow with the whole car. Don't get me wrong, the car looks good in the front and sides but the rear is . It really looks like a Sonata. But that's just me.

^^ Everyone easily forgets where Hyundai got all their styling ques....
This is the next direction for the entire Lexus lineup.. You're either in or you're out. LoL
In 2012 we will see either 9 New or Updated Models
The New 2013 GS looks very nice, once you get to see & sit in it, in person..

Hyundai is following Lexus. Hyundai wants to be Toyota/ Lexus and are headed in the right direction.
Lexus followed Mercedes with the original LS (down to the Mercedes seat controls on the LS) and the subsequent model followed the BMW 7 series. That is the way it goes. Every Japanese design over the last 30 years has emulated the class leading car at the time. Lexus sought to improve upon that and did a good job.
The current styling attempts are aimed at those that criticize Acura and Lexus for playing it safe. Acura did so and failed with the current TL, RDZ etc. Lexus is attempting to do the same. I like the new GS it's changes are evolutionary, not revolutionary by any means.

I don't know what unveiling you saw Chow but the new GS looks good, a move in the right direction for Lexus. You might not be the target customer for the new GS, as I am not for the ES line, but I see ES300/ES350 everywhere!
I'm sure the new LS/IS series will look great, competition is tough in these segments and Lexus won't step down from the position they have now.
