Default Did I come across the fastest recorded IS-F?

Tonight my friends wanted me to show them the ropes at a drag strip, as they both recently acquired new cars.We went to Toyota Speedway in Irwindale in the R35 and 335IS.

Track conditions were TERRIBLE. 94 degrees out. My best time today was 8.86, this was the best out of 8, the rast were 8.9 & 9.0. My best time is 8.49. This was in 50 degree weather last year.

On my way back to line up from the pits, I saw a 2011 IS-F with dealer plates in the parking lot putting on drag radials. I get excited, so I pull up to them(not going to mention the attitudes of these guys.) . I then went back and staged. After my 7th race and 3 hours I see the pulling up to the tree finally for the 1st time tonight.

Long story short, he ran a 7.2 in the 1/8th. I was stunned!

Did my research on dragtimes and found that he ran faster then any IS-F on there. Knowing what Cayman and Slay did to their cars and the times they got, I'm curious to know what you guys think he did to it to make it that fast.

Craziest thing is I don't think he has an aftermarket exhaust bc it sure didn't sound like it.

So my guess would be headers and Huge shot of nitrous.

What do you guys think it might be?

He's probably just on a small nitrous shot that is just enough to make good power but not enough to cause traction problems. I'm not sure what my 1/8th times would look like if I were to dead hook...

Whatever he's doing its working because 7.2 is Damn quick

You should go to every track night until you seem him again and report back to us about his mods. This is crucial for the forum, its like were to have discovered plutonium

Lol at your attitude.

I care, and if you don't please don't pollute my thread.

I'm very interested because I'm buying a new car in a year. I ruled the F out because I want to make my next to be a 10 sec car. I didn't think it think it was attainable, so I ruled it out. That is until last night.

Agreed. And my main point is this is a 7.2 in TERRIBLE weather. Everyone last night was running a half second slower then normal.

I'm sure his slicks contributed to most of what I saw. I just never thought they'd make THAT big of a difference. All the F's I ran and have seen run at the track in better conditions have not run faster then 8.5.

Trust me, I'll be there every week for a while because my buddy with the GTR is addicted and wants me to run his car for him. He himself was very impressed by the F last night. He was running 7.7 all night.

It's crazy to think that a track is running 1/8 mile drags in the dead of summer!!??
Man what a tease!
The MPH tells the story, see if you can catch that or talk to mutual friends/acquaintances that were there and might have seen.

A stock IS-F with a 100 shot of nitrous probably has more low-end tq than a full bolt on IS-F with the same shot of nitrous from the increase in backpressure, because it’s still bottled up. For 1/8 mile this makes sense to me.

Maybe it has IS350 gears in the differential. Very quick off the line with ratios that low and wouldn't need nitrous or any other power booster.

I highly doubt a stock ISF with Gears will even hit 7.8s in the 1/8th, especially with a 2084 DA.

Idk why I was thinking slicks. Yesterday I only assumed they were DR's. I don't know for sure, but at a quick glance they looked like DR's. Slicks are obvious and I'm pretty sure I would have noticed. But then again, idk for sure"/

very very low 11 or high 10....My 02 civic si (T1 EP3) ran 7.1-7.3's @ 108ish and it consistently runs 10.90's
@ around 130-135mph in the 1/4 on low boost. I would love to see that thing at the track!
