I agreee its a tosss up, the gains are eh for the large amount of money but the tq starting 1000rpm earlier is no joke even though you loose a little here and there, there were some small low and mid range hp gains as well. We have enough hp, we need more mods to improve tq. Im alright with the mod. At least I didnt loose power, James at JE was worried I would have power drops all over... luckly he was kinda wrong.
Those are interesting results with the addition of the ported/polished intake manifold. I was hoping to see gains all through the power band, but it looks like it's only beneficial from a dig. Top end where we do most of a race seems to have suffered some.

^^I agree with you as far as being disappointed in the high end losses. But besides a dig it is better at low speeds and daily driving as well. If someone had put out an honest dyno sheet comparison as I have, before I bought it I probably would not have. The gains aren't really worth the price.

I am sure the beautiful lines of the pipes help but the removal of the restrictive CAT must count a lot.
The headers are the biggest gain... the factory design in awful.

Porting the intake manifold on a motor like we have is somewhat risky as the results have shown. It would be very difficult, IMO, to beat the Lexus R & D. We know our cars have fairly restrictive exhausts and relatively small cams. Still, it generates the power quite effectively which tells me the intake mani and cylinder heads are more than doing their jobs. That is the key reason our motors respond so well to headers (and cams if anybody made any for the USDM). It seems as though the Elite guys assumed there would be power gains in porting the head when, likely as not, they slowed port velocity, which can have a negative impact on torque and outright power. By itself, this will make the car less responsive, but with the other mods on the OP's car, these issues are glossed over somewhat. Elite should conduct an apples-to-apples comparison of a bone stock IS-F, install its ported intake manifold and test again. I'm willing to bet that, if it did this, the gains, if any, would be nominal and there would be a good chance of the stock car outperforming the modded one.

Thinking about the intake manifold more... I wonder if you dynoed a few of the ported manifolds in a row if they would even be anywhere near consistent in their results. They are all hand ported, whos to say one didnt get a bigger or smaller port than the next? I dont think it was ever flow benched or anything.

incredible stuff...i have two questions though:

with all the hype/controversy on the intake.. are you still glad you bough it? i think you should remove it and then dyno again with all else constant.

also, what was install like and $ for the sikkys?

I think if i were to do it again i would have bought a joe Z intake pipe because although i think the intake is helping when the car is cool, i think its hurting me on the track as far as heat soak.

Sikky header installed are going to run you 1950 to 2200 depending on the condition of your o2 sensors when they come out.

Sounds high to me. A friend had his PPEs installed a couple of weeks ago for $400.00. An excellent deal. I believe $800.00 to be in the ball park for installation. And yes, both my heaters needed to be replaced, my friend didn't need to replace his.

I was counting the price of the headers into that number ....1295 + 600 + o2 sensors.

Great right up and thanks for all your honest input. I am definitely considering headers but with all the wedding expenses they might take a back seat for the time being.
