Default Project Mu brake pads installed + review for Ishii Motor Industries, Seattle

From day one, i hated how much the stock brake pads dusted. I pulled the trigger last week and ordered a set of Project Mu NS Street pads for my baby.

I had them installed today at Ishii Motor Industries in Bellevue, WA. The owner Steve Ishii is super knowledgeable in Japanese cars, especially Toyotas. He's been a Certified Toyota Master Tech since 03, and his knowledge and thoroughness in my job shows it.

Here are some pics below of the install and of the shop. Note the two beautiful Skylines!

Definitely Project Mu pads! The color is unmistakable. Looking forward to the review.

Question for those who have the Project Mu NS pads....do your pads appear to be oversized a little bit? My pads stick out beyond the caliper...is this normal? I'm afraid of extra stress on the unsupported part of the pad that's sticking outside the caliper.

One thing I've noticed right off the bat is less (or actually the lack of) noise when I'm braking. With the OEM pads, I always got squealing under light braking. I'll report back my impressions after a few hundred miles on these pads.

Yes they do. There is nothing to stress the pads or yourself about.

Your OEM pad did the same thing. But because you didn't have a a contrasting color against the caliper to draw your attention to it you wouldn't have noticed it.

Anytime.

I hope you like yours as much as I do mine. Be sure to post your impressions after you've had them for a bit.

I got mine from MVP Motorsports; they're a vendor on this forum. PM Chops@MVP to get pricing; I got an excellent deal on mine. And yes, they do have front and rear; Fronts are F160 and rears are R106, NS compound.

For sure. I absolutely love them so far, but I'll definitely report back after a few hundred miles. I hope there will enough road grime and brake dust by then to cover up that green! The green looks cool, but it looks out of place with my blackout theme.

Thanks for the pics. Can't wait to hear about your experience with them. I think this will be my next mod even if I don't need them cause I can't stand the brake dust anymore.

mugenh,

Did you replace front and rear pads, or just the fronts? How many miles were on your F, and did they mic the rotors, grind, reuse, or replace?

Sorry for all the ?'s, but I think I will be doing these pads real soon.

Take Care,

Gary

I only had 2500 - 3000 miles on the rotors and pads when I swapped to the Project Mu's. I didn't have to resurface the rotors since they're still very fresh. I did the front and rear pads.
