Default Better MPG in Sport Mode?

Has anyone else notice better gas mileage in sport mode? I've been experimenting and have driven the F in sport mode for about 1000 miles in sport mode alone, both city and highway, normal daily driving, and I've noticed a 10 miles more per tank. Has anyone else notice this?

No, I've noticed the exact opposite.

You have to go by miles per gallon. Use www.gasbuddy.com to find the gas prices and log gallons and miles.

Miles per tank is BS. Not even close to accurate.

I've noticed more mileage in Sports mode as well, it feels like it wants to run effortlessly while in normal mode it takes a bit of effort.

In Sport mode it holds the gear longer. Normal mode, it always wants to shift fast. Some people say they get better MPG on Sport, less shifting, but it's still a myth.

Yup, I've noticed better MPG when driving in Sport Mode. Maybe something to do w/ getting to the speed you want to get to faster, so you can then ease off?

I'm always in Sport Mode, so I can't answer your question. However, Lexus developed the two modes so that in Non Sport mode, they can show the best gas mileage they can for purposes of the feds, and the dreaded gas guzzler tax. It takes a thought process to put the car in Sport mode. That way Lexus can say that is the normal mode, and measure gas mileage in that mode. IMHO, throttle response is unacceptable in the Non Sport Mode.

And, I always take my gas mileage with a calculator, not with the onboard readings.

10 miles over a 300 mile tank (3%), to me, is inconclusive that you gained better gas mileage. Unless you filled up at the same pump with the tank at the same exact level every time, it's tough to say there are any measurable gains.

I think part of the reason that I maybe getting better MPG in Sport Mode is because my car seems to coast more freely in Sport mode. I get up to the desired speed and I can coast for a longer period of time before I need to apply the gas again. In regular mode, the car seems to be restrained and takes more effort to keep at a desired speed. It maybe different for other's, based on one's driving habits, driving terrain, and mods on the car, but for me, Sport Mode yields more MPG.

I haven't noticed this, at all. By far, my right foot determines gas mileage.

Agreed, I would put a throttle controller on too but ive heard of people have weird shifting/noise problems with my mods with a throttle controller.

Call me crazy, but I drive in "snow" mode about 25% of the time; always when the engine's cold, and sometimes during my morning work commute. I figure if I don't need all the power, I might as well save some gas. It feels like I have a small V6 when I'm in snow mode, but it makes driving in sport mode so much more enjoyable.

And more power in snow mode, right? You'd need to record your own (not the mileage info provided by the vehicle) mileage and tank fill volumes over several fills and do the calculation (mpg) yourself to test it. Let us know what you find!
