Some of those "skunk works" Lexus Engineers were indeed multi-tasking between the LFA & IS-F development..
It's also NO coincidence that both engines were tuned by Yamaha

I think a coupe would look great.
Things that I'd like to see on the next gen IS-F are:
- reduced curb weight
- AFS going away; it's useless to me and it's just more stuff to go wrong....
- LED headlights?
- a third pedal
- more unique exterior colors....the colors offered today (besides USB) are low key and not really unique

I haven't seen any "new rumors" in a little while. I would image that it would follow along the same design lines as the new GS but I haven't heard anything about mechanical stuff.

Next gen coming in 2015. That's from what I've read about the expected life cycle of this current car, and development rumors on the new FT86 platform.
No way in the world are we getting a new gen in 2013. We would have seen it by now.....

If talking about would like to see then for me it would be: dynamic adjustable suspension, sport button makes exhaust flap open all the time, reduced co2 emissions to lower tax band over here. Possibly like SLK 55 V8 with cylinder deactivation. HUD, trying to keep track of your speed would be much easier. Folding door mirrors on locking.

I was thinking we might see a new IS this year (2013 model). Because Akio Toyoda said at the premier of the new GS that they were releasing 9 new or updated models in 2012. I assume that the GS350 and GS Hybrid are two of those. That leaves 7 more. :-) However, if we do see a new IS, it may only be the 250/350. (Remember that they released the F in 2008, two years after the re-designed second gen 250/350.)

That's the nine I'd count, and minus one when the HS gets axed. Also I'd imagine the LX is also due for a nip/tuck. New SC based on the LF-LC in 2014, GS-F in 2014, so that would place the next gen IS-F in 2015. (Earliest perhaps in 2014 as a 2015 model, just like the "2013" GS delivering a couple months into 2012)

I work for a Lexus dealer and have the following info from Lexus. The new models this year are in order of release are: All these models will have the Enform 2.0 and upgraded multimedia software for the nav.
GS350 - Major
GS450h - Major
LX570 - Minor
RX350 - Minor
RX450H - Minor
ES350 - Major
ES300h - Major
RX350 F-sport
LS460 - Major
The IS will be all new in 2013 as a 2014 MY. Probably summer, i will ask about an F.
