The "final" version that was fitted to my car over the last 2 weeks is too quiet. HKS USA is having HKS Japan air freight some different size and length resonators to tune the sound to be more aggressive. The parts should be in this week so the updates are on hold until all of these are fitted, dyno tested and tested for sound at various RPM's.

All of this would be a lot quicker (and cheaper) if HKS USA was just selling the same version that HKS Japan will release. The guys in R & D at HKS are all enthusiasts and ultimately want an exhaust that has excellent fit and finish without being obnoxious. Those of you familiar with HKS should expect nothing less.

In the mean time here are some pics of the rear mufflers mounted to the car.

No I'm not saying that at all. The Japanese version is quieter than the one fitted to my car and the one fitted to my car is pretty damn quiet. The Japanese market uses the HKS Metal Catalyser, the U.S version will not.

You've got a really nice set up car with the suspension/exhaust/kit and i'm sure all the other parts are pretty legit. Verrrry Nice!

That's the only thing that comes to mind. I love HKS products and quality, but wow this one is a bit hard to swallow.

Yeah I would expect a lot of cancellation out of the design. Its not terribly loud from the axleback. So the resonator would need removing to get a louder tone IMO.

What do you find hard to swallow? Both rear mufflers still weigh 3 lbs. less than the factory mufflers and combined with HKS mid-pipes without the primary cats they are only 2db louder overall than the stock exhaust.

It is convoluted but works to quiet the exhaust and judging from how quiet my car is with the resonator I'd say it's working well. In fact with another configuration I ran on the car from them the car was louder but minus the in cabin noise I've experienced with other exhausts.

As with anything from TOM's it's excellent.

Those are rear mufflers with a Y pipe, not the full exhaust. The rear section was released last week and HKS had 2 in the country. The mid pipes were finalized last Thursday on my car and should be available in another month or so.
