Default My little de-chroming DIY for the weekend....

I've never like the look of the chrome on the shift **** and on the shift gate in my ISF. So I took about an hour this weekend to take care of it....with a little 600 grit sandpaper. I gave a light directional sanding to the the chrome accents on the **** and on the shifter console. The chrome pieces now look like brushed stainless steel; a look that's more appropriate for a sports sedan.

I was slightly wary when you first mentioned you were going to do this but it actually looks pretty good, nice job

I suck at photography, so it's tough to capture the finish on photo. For those of you who have a stainless steel fridge, imagine that finish on the shift **** and shift gate.

Thanks. Some of the things on my "would like to do" list are:

1) wider tires
2) wheels
3) lower suspension

Looks good. But I'm surprised nobody's found a solution to the digital clock from the 1980s just above the shifter. It's awful. I just want to cover that whole piece with black electrical tape so people will stop making fun of it when they sit in the car

Yeah, I hate the look of that clock. It's one of the unfortunate carry-overs from the Toyota parts bin.

A couple of quick and easy DIY jobs would be a Joe-Z intake and upgraded air filter. Total of about $270 and an hour of your time.
