It is probably more tonal than anything which is fine. You want some syncopation in the exhaust to make it sound better. Splitting to a even dual at that point ill not make much difference anyway. Also it does appear to be more than an axle back. It looks well thought out to me and probably sounds better than slapping some larger pipes on and calling it a tuned exhaust note..
