Default Are there any "cons" to going true dual?

Hi guys....so i am close to going the true dual route, and obviously the gains have been proven, my question is....are there any cons to going true dual? Does the car lose low end tourque? etc. Just curious to know. thanks guys.

Also to add...has anyone here have first hand expirience with muffler deletion? Sound at cruising and wide open throttle TOO loud? again pros an cons.

The cons would be more noise. Also worth considering if you live in a place where the police harass/enforce modified exhaust satutes is the increased chance of being pulled over and or ticketed.

I would think that the car would be undriveable with the amount of noise the car would create without mufflers. Some of the BMW 335I guys have tried the muffler delete and it's bearable on that car because the turbochargers do a good job of quieting the exhaust. That won't be the case on NA V8 like the IS F.

From what other have posted. Going with a something like the joe-z will yield a slight sound increase and the issforged will be a bit louder than that. However, due to the sound dampening put in the Lexus, the car is certainly still drivable.

Now if you decide to go the header route also, I'd wait till something comes out w/ cats on it before making a purchase, if your concerned with noise.

For sure the noise increase will be there, but I'm not opposed to little bit more "presence" and NICE grunt, but is there any performance give...say possible due to less back pressure a little loss in low end tourque? Etc. I ask because I've heard sometimes cars losing HP and TQ when doing an exhaust. Thanks guys for the input in advanced.

Exhaust scavenging will be effected depending on X-pipe type and placement. A loss and/or gain in power is dependent on the scavenging, pipe diameter, bends, and where in the RPM you want an increase in power.

Search is your friend:

Muffler removal:

My dual system:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...ound-clip.html

Sound clip is on page 2. A dual system does not have to be loud.

I have done the muffler delete and the boomy resonance at 1800-2200 under light load was too much for me to take. I loved the sound during any other instance, but the car spends lots of time in this rpm range. I ended up welding two small Magnaflow mufflers in place of the straight pipes and have been pleased with that setup. It's going to sound weird, but the all around best sound to me was with a stock muffler on one side and a small Magnaflow muffler on the other.

Did the muffler delete and I am happly with it. Inside the car is not too bad when crusing. When you get on it, sounds like a freight train is comming.

Also feels like some gain in power with the mufflers gone.
