Interesting find on the AFE drop in. AFE used to make the drop in oiled filters for TRD USA previously. Most of their product line is cotton gauze oiled filter media.

That's a good question. The long time story about aFe was that they were a group of disgruntled K&N employees that decided to open up their own facility. K&N is in Riverside, CA and aFe is in the next city over in Corona, CA.

Here's their product info:

I noticed a difference but I also did the Joe Z intake and the mod to keep the 2nd flap open and I removed the charcoal filter inside all at the same time so that probably had a lot to do with it too.

^^^ Keeping the second flap open won't help you getting better times, actually your times will get worse and the trap speed will drop. I tested this over a year ago and posted the results. At the 1/8 mile track I was 0.2s and 2MPH slower with the 2nd. flap open. The intake noise is louder at the lower RPMs though.

Carson Toyota told me it takes 8 weeks to order one from Japan.

I ordered my as well with Prolex. Did you have to remove the intake to install it? I read somwhere in the forum I think it was either forum member timetoy or houstonT when they dynod there cars they lost power with the tom's as opposed to the stock filter.
