Wow, good to know my sensors aren't broken. I really thought something was wrong, when it doesn't seem to react to rain, then all of a sudden it will go like crazy.

Not the smoothest, but it's not too bad. A little annoying.. They should have given you a little more control over speed in manual mode.

awesome info! definitely going to try it out

Well another year has passed and the rainy season is upon us in Northern California.

My rain sensing wipers still are terrible.

Time to book another trip to the dealer. I had a chance to look at the sensor close up this time. It looks like it is bonded to the windshield by some sort of transparent pad? My pad seems to have a wrinkle in it, perhaps that is interfering with the vision the sensor has. Hopefully it is not permanently affixed to the windshield and can be removed and replaced.

I'll report back.

To me, the whole "auto" features in modern automobiles is frustrating. AFS, auto steering wheel tilt, auto wiper, auto A/C, auto door locks, etc.

Good thing all of those can be disabled, which is what I have done minus the auto wiper which cannot be set. Like everyone here, sometimes it goes crazy, sometimes, not enough, but 95% of the time, works fine.

RainX works, but a couple sweeps from the wipers seem to diminish the effect of it. Doesn't Lexus say the front glass/windshield has some sort of built-in water repellent feature?

oh man its been raining in norcal lately and the auto wipers are like others have said, just plain pathetic, especially if the rain is a slight drizzle...it will wipe at a fast pace when theres no rain but stop when it does rain..its madness!

hahaha funny to see this thread being bumped again. it started to rain more this week. on and off, sometimes drizzling sometimes heavy. just this morning i was driving my car (not lexus) and was telling myself how good the auto setting performs because i didn't have to touch anything the whole way to work. i remember last time i drove my lexus in rain to work (same route), it was in auto, but i was flipping the control the whole time still

on the lexus, i really wish they just bring back the INT setting and call it a day

I have the Auto set to the lowest (-) setting..... works great there for mist and light drizzle...

For anything more intense, I just turn them ON..

Truthfully, I dislike wipers most of the time.
Ooh, I love Rain-X! It's great for snow as well. I think I've made my wipers last 3 times longer.

Sorry to bring back this old thread from the dead and now my 2012 rx350 is experiencing this same issue. I have complained about this issue to lexus corporate and they are not willing to so anything about it since this was done by designed. I am experiencing the same issue here in North cal where it is foggy and with water covering the entire windshield, the wiper doesn't move at all in auto mode..besides rain x, has anyone found a fix for this?

Are you guys playing with the sensitivity of the sensor? I used to feel like many of you until I started playing with the sensitivity and now they are pretty good

My gF complains to me about this all the time but when I drive it it works fine. There is a wiper sensor tape that can be replaced. I'm on vaca right now in sc. So when I get back to work Monday I'm gonna change mine. Being a tech at a dealer has its perks.
