Why did the IS-F depreciate 20k
I know cars depreciate but I can't beliieve how much the IS-F did in less than a year. The November issue of Road and Track complained about the same thing. Don't get me wrong I love the car but I am shocked at the depreciation.

I checked cars for sale and they said the same thing in Road and Track, November 2009 issue page 77, quoted below.....
"Similar to what we experienced with our long term Lexus GS 450h, our Kelly Blue Book-sourced residual trade-in value for the IS-F has fallen dramatically by $20,678 in about a year's time. This is the most expensive figure in our cost per mile analysis, which nearly converts our IS-F into the coolest year-long taxi cab ride we've ever had."

as mentioned you can almost blindly get a new one for around 50k easily, on a car stickered at 60+. sticker doesn't mean much. with 50k price tag on a new car, what can you expect on a 1 yr old car with reasonable mileage? the economy is definitely making things worse with dealerships lowering prices of new cars

If the price dropped 20k, I would have bought one. This is complete bullcrap. I've been looking at used IS-Fs since day one and the lowest is in the mid 40k range.
If the asshat wants to load up the IS-F MSRP and then find the lowest IS-F on sale, yeah you can stretch it to 20k. On average that is not the case.
Also the IS-F depreciation is inline with everything else.
This is why I see these car mags more and more as crap. They don't even check the writers words and crap is pawned off as facts.
Recent reports are showing used car values are strengthening too.

People can get current model years cheaper once the next model year rolls out. For example, people were getting crazy deals on 2008 model year IS F around this time last year due to the fact that:
1) Supply was very very very high
2) Economy entering recession
3) 2009 model IS F was allocated for delivery (but pushed back a month or two due to #1).
Mind you the 2008 IS F came out in February of 2008. There were still a good amount of NEW 2008 IS F's at dealership lots in the first quarter of this year which is why there were dealer incentives to sell them at a great price. The dealer incentive money was first offered in December 2008.
Now for those looking to buy a NEW 2009 model year IS F's, this is a great time as dealers are now in posession of 2010 IS F's. Don't be surprised folks. This is nothing new as this happens every year around this time.
