Default IS-F engine sound

first time saw and heard IS-F yesterday. looks nice, but it sounds like a *****ty Ford Mustang. I always thought IS-F is the "quiet" muscle car. People said IS-F is built to compete with M3. M3 doesn't make such trashy noise. What's the deal here?

Welcome to CL captain1. You probably have never heard an M3 at idle or at low RPM. It's not a pretty sound.

The IS F's motor is pretty strong. I haven't really heard anyone complain about how it sounds. If anything it's gotten a lot of praise both in the media and here on CL for it's robust sound, especially at WOT.

Hmmm, how is a v8 suppose to sound? Would you like it more if it sounded like a Corolla instead?

wow, and the raspy M3 is sound you're looking for? so much effort to make an account and make your first post about something so subjective reveals so much about you.

IS-F sounds great throughout the range
I miss the IS-F a lot, more than I can put into words
Starting up the M6, it sounds like a broken truck
M6 is only good sounding at WOT above 5000rpm, IS-F sounds amazing the entire time
