^^ I have oil sitting in a container to send off to them.. it was from my 10K or a bit over 11K (many months ago)

I'm now on new oil which is hitting 16.5K this week..

Time for an update...

Looks like two track weekends got a little more iron than just one from last time and flashpoint dropped 10 degrees too.

Despite similar mileage but more time compared to the previous cycle, seems that the ppm for many elements has increased significantly (molybdenum, boron, calcium, phosphorus, zinc).

Thoughts to why that might be? Any cause for concern?

And I wonder if the stats would be different if you were running dino instead of syn?

Two track weekends instead of one. I noticed it as well. I also noticed the iron didn't track the same. The only real difference is two track weekends on this pass. The previous sample only had one.

First oil analysis...This is dealer fill 5w30 dino oil with 5 months / 5,000 miles on the oil. Car is my daily driver and is a weekend bracket racer, 120+ passes down the 1/4mi on this oil. Analysis came back v good, the oil filter is doing its job, negligible metals. As normal with 30wt's the oil had sheared down... cST is nearly 20 wt. ...I replaced the oil myself with Redline Synthetic 5w20, which is a very thick 20wt. and extremely stable. Check out Bobistheoilguy.com for really good info on oil.

Here's the latest at 50k miles. No track duty on this cycle at all. Everything looks better too.

Default Oil Analysis on 15000 miles

I sent a sample of my oil in to Blackstone Labs after 14,900 miles on my F. It was Mobil 1 5W-30 Extended Performance (designed for longer intervals up to 15,000 miles). I've never ran oil this long so I wanted to have the oil analyzed. I'm using Fram's oil filter for the F. (I know, I know, lots of people hate Fram, but not me.) I'm very impressed with the Mobil 1/Fram combo. Here's what they said.

The iron is unusually high for a car not track driven. As you can see from my UOAs above, I would expect to see 32 or 33, not 39. You might want to consider using the regular Mobil 1 - the "extended" use model just displaces lubricants with additives, and I've not heard anything particularly good about the extended interval stuff (nothing bad, just nothing good either).

You would also be wise to run a TBN (total base number) to be sure you still have some acid neutralizing ability left in the oil at your OCI.

The filter brand isn't going to be a major factor with the IS-F's filter style. The spin on filters is where Fram's standard model gets a really bad rap. With our cartridge filter and the built-in bypass valve, there's very little to screw up (except fitment - search for Purolator to see what I mean), so I doubt the manufacturer is going to make any significant difference in filtration quality.

Yeah, I was a little worried about the iron too. I just replaced the oil with another round of the extended performance. But I think I may change it a little before 15K. And then, go with the regular Mobil 1 like you suggested.

I agree. All of the major brands should perform equally well.

Thanks man!

Time for another update. Pretty clear things are going well. Hopefully I don't jinx myself with the valve clearance inspection. Parts finally showed up, so I'm doing this on Saturday and will be taking pics. I would have preferred to do an oil change at the same time to keep the oil clean, but such is life. I didn't want to go another 1500 miles on this oil while waiting for parts.

Blackstone is impressed with the low wear. Definitely good news!

Adding oil to full after the filter change also recharges the additive package and raises TBN which helps extend OCI further.
How do you replace the filter element without losing all of your oil?
