Any idea if there's any weight saving between the OEM headers and the PPE Headers?

None. There's actually a weight gain of roughly 1lb, as I confirmed with PPE.

Of course, that's negligible, considering the power gains.

Anyone thought about doing an exhaust in T6061 aluminum? It would be a significant weight savings over SS. You would just need to find an expert fabricator that knows how to weld aluminum.

Hello everyone. I would like to bring this thread back to life. I'm am having a hard time where I'm at getting my F where it needs to be at the track... one big issue I think is the most difficult is what everyone she is taking about. Weight reduction. Our cars are so freaking heavy that my mission this season is to see what "reasonable" modifications can be done with still keeping the luxury of an F. I see lots of people mentioning cf this cf that. But do your research the amount of money spent to replace body panels with cf aren't really worth it! There are plenty of other "hidden" mods out there they can be done and I am going to prove that this season. Such as things like sprung weight, lighter wheels, lighter suspension, removing certain suspension pieces, removing certain panels and brackets and unnesary metal. Also for everyone out there that doesn't really know this. Most panels on out vehicle are aluminum and switch to cf isn't a drastic change. For instance my stock hold on my 2011 only weighs abojt 8-10 more pounds hen my cf good!!

8-10 pounds on a 2,000 pound car may be quite a bit, but our cars are 3700+, a 0.2% decrease in weight is not a lot at all. If it was 10 pounds off the wheels then we are talking bigger benefit.

yea. Any weight saved on the spindles. Is roughly 2-1. So 10 pounds saved on each wheels is pretty much 80lbs. Called sprung weight

Your wheels are unsprung weight.

What light weight wheel options are people going with and how much mass was saved?

For lightweight wheels, many here go with RAYS/Volk Racing, SSR, Advan, and some even prefer custom like BC Wheels or HRE. Offsets are still relatively conservative, but they do get the job done.

Weight savings, I've thought about it a lot. Some things I know.
1. Some weight savings with the battery. Significant weight savings with a Lithium ion battery, but is it worth it.
2. Wheels can really save a lot. I just put 2015 RC F wheels and tires on my F, but was shocked at the 51 and 53 pound weights. Tires seem like they are filled with concrete.
3. Keep all the goofy stuff out of the car. Remove the spare, jack, tool kit and back seat when at the race track.
4. Seats?
5. Removing some things just makes a mess of the car.
6. Aluminum exhaust manifolds are not the answer. They'll melt. Same for tail pipes. Thin 14 gauge stainless may work, but ceramic coated 14 gauge mild steel is probably better.
7. If your really serious, strip everything out of the car that makes it a Lexus. That'll get you 3100+ pounds.

Aluminum melts at 1300 F. Doubt our exhausts get that hot. I'd be more concerned about other things like exhaust flow and durability. If money is not an option full titanium exhaust is the way to go.
