I bet when they replaced the compressor they replace the serpentine belt too. When I changed mine, it went away for a while, but came back in a couple of months. Report back in a few months and let us know if the compressor swap was more permanent than my belt swap.

Engine Metal Clicking Sound..Help!!
I just picked up my car this afternoon. So far the noise is no longer present after the AC compressor change.
It had been sitting at the dealer since Friday with out starting and they waited for me to arrive.
I am fairly convinced that this was the issue (in my situation). The engine actually sounds quieter than it ever has.......I will also check for the belt squeak at WOT. A wonky compressor pulley may also be responisible for the belt slap issue during hard acceleration...IMO
I will continue to monitor over the next few days on cold starts and report back.
Update: after some more mileage - the belt slap has comepletly disappeared, and all metal rattle noises have been eliminated. I also used to have a hunting idle issue that is now steady as a rock while in park.
I am really happy about this, as it has eliminated all of my concerns

Since you have a pretty loud noise and are pretty mechanically inclined..(or anyone who has a loud persistent rattle) . Do you think it would be possible to put a smaller serpentine belt on so as to bypass your ac compressor. I would think this would definitively prove this theory either way. If not I may take my car to the dealer and attempt to get them to do it (my noise is very intermittent though)

I doubt you'd be able to route the belt to bypass the A/C compressor. It's not a simple configuration at all.

The noise is normal dont stress about it.... at the dealer lot an 2013 with 30k miles had it and so does mine I dont even notice it anymore and it only happens sometimes. Like mentioned earlier in this thread, this is a common sound. Until someone posts a catastrophic engine failure post after hearing that noise, I'll keep enjoying my isf.

I did some investigation last summer one morning and found removing the oil fill cap made the sound much louder. It isn't what I would expect from valves or rocker arms, but empirical evidence points to them.

On a side note.. My noise always occurs with fresh oil.. And then goes away about 1-2k miles after change.. By the time I reach the 5-6k mile OCI.. There's no more noise.
