Default Alternate Brake Pads

Since there seems to be little information on anything other than the OEM pads for the F, I did a little poking around. Carbotech has pads from street to full race for the F. Both front and rear, and they have a street compound that is low dust and about half the cost of OEM pads.

I think I know what I'm going to be getting soon so I don't have to clean my wheels so often.

If anyone else has seen alternate pads (caymandive?), post up what you got, how you like it, and what they cost. This might make a sticky if we get enough good info in it.

I found out from Hawk last week that they already have the F as an application for their line of HPS Ceramic pads.

I'm not exactly sure of what the dealer was referring to... Did he mean the blue F-Sport BBK? Or maybe the yellow ones shown at SEMA two years ago? The yellow ones never made it to production. As for the blue kit, those rotors aren't carbon ceramic - they're plain cast iron, and they're smaller (355mm vs 362mm for the F). There's also no guarantee that the mounting bell will line up the friction ring inside the caliper properly, since each manufacturer builds their kits for use with their own components. For this same reason, the pads won't fit either since they're designed for use in a StopTech caliper. Currently there is no OEM carbon ceramic application for the F. StopTech is currently in R&D for one, but I still haven't heard of a release date, or whether it will be a StopTech or "F-Sport" part.

Can't believe you forgot about this thread You played a big role in it. And, yep Ferodo's, IMHO, are still the best choice for replacement pads

Raceshopper.com sells Ferodo ds2500 pads for ($220 set) and some Ceramic ones for ($119 set) which I am currently running and they do indeed have a huge reduction in brake dust. In fact I have slightly less dust on my front wheels now than the rear. Operation is quieter and more comfortable than the OEM pads. Very worthy for a daily driver and for the price it was hard to resist.

Lexus of Dayton now sells Hawk pads.

Check out the link in my previous post to the Hawk site. At the top you can click on and learn about their different compounds.

it isn't on their website yet... can you just call and ask for them for the F? Do they make front AND rear?

No, I didn't forget, but I didn't think people were going to wade through 8 pages of stuff to get to a brake pad discussion.

I'll be visiting Carbotech on Friday to see what they have and what they recommend. I'm really tired of the excessive dust, so in all likelihood I'll get street and track pads from them. Carbotech has a really good reputation in the Supra community, so I suspect they'll have something I'll like.

FWIW, I've run Hawk HPS on my Supra for ~90k miles - they've not worn out nor have they eaten the discs. Pretty good street pads to say the least.
