It's all about DA. Go to dragtimes and find out the DA of the stock run vs. the mod run.

Took my F to run on the strip for the first time last night ( went opening weekend back in the spring but it was crazy busy so I didnt run). The DA was terrible last night, summer time in GA. 900 track elevation + 90* weather + 70% humidity + 30.08 Baro = 3210 DA.

Ran 4 times with almost identical 60', time, and speed. This is the fast time slip:

others were all low 13.4XX with 106.5X speeds. The DragTimes DA correction calculator said I should have been running 12.877 @ 110.95 for stock NA motor.

PS: that was a friends is350 on the slip, he couldnt hit a time in the 13s all night, but he owned a 350z and other cars.

Just saw you added your slip to drag times.com. Great website! Your corrected time is right on the money!

lol thats funny you happened to see that. I just got the email saying it was up at 10:30pm. I was wishing for better time and speed, but just terrible weather so I was happy with consistent runs.

When I think about going to the drag strip, I check the weather. if the DA is over 1000, there is NO chance of even running decent so I don't even bother now. I like to run obviously when the DA is as low as possible, but also running in really cold weather makes it hard to hook up. So far, the with the Mickey Thompsons, running in 30-40 degree weather seems fine.

That's why I don't even bother drag racing until Oct/Nov.

Thats when our track season closes ... Best times never come out of my track, just how it is. So I mainly just go to get some of the racing out of my system legally ( instead of street racing)
and still have fun beating up on other cars. Even had a loaded 750i with me beating STIs and stuff! haha

Thanks for the info. Even with the DA calc (over 1500)the car is not running where I want it to be. One more thing, how much do you think running 91 octane is hindering my performance? Where I live 94 is readily available and since then have switched over. Is it possible my timing was retarded making me run slower times?

Took my car to the dyno today. Only modifications are a drop in filter and a Joe Z exhaust. I don't know what the car is doing between 2 and 3k rpm as I was 100% WOT during that time. My first pull didn't have that dip, but the second and third pulls did...weird.

Well, I ran for the first time Friday even and wasn't real happy. My best was a 12.8 @ 114. My car was gutted too. I took out passenger seat, rear seat cushions, floor mats, spare tire, jack and subwoofer. After talking to some guys out there, I pulled up the weather conditions of the track and found the DA was 3700. I converted this time to a 12.2 @ 119. Much better! Just wish it said that on the slip! ;-)

I did notice that full bolt on 5.0 Mustangs and Camaros couldn't break in to the 12's, so I suppose all else being equal, it was ok. I need to work on my 60' (2.1's) on 275 Michelin Pilot Super Sports. My 0-60 conversion was 4.5-4.6 seconds which seems awful slow. Would have thought this car would be around (or SHOULD be around) 3.7-3.9. Guess I just need to figure the launch out. I never really spun off the line, so maybe I wasn't being aggressive enough.

Anyway, I had a great time and my runs were as follows... 12.8 twice, 12.9 once, 13.0 3 times. Traps were 111-114. DA was HORRIBLE!

Yeah ran in Tulsa. I need to go back in Oct when conditions are better. I don't think I'll ever see those real low time that the guys on the coast are getting.
